Advice on xrays please

Hi, my daughter had her usual xrays last week. The person doing

them decided to take them from the back rather than the front as they

have done for over two years. What I need to know is, does this make a

difference to any reading for the cobb angle. has alot of

rotation. We've noticed 's back appearing worse since they put her

in a brace in October. They did this because she was having reactions

to anaesthetics. The doc says it's probably the rotation getting worse

if it appears worse as he reckons the curve has decreased a little, it

certainly looks worse to us.

I honestly have no idea if it makes a difference or not. Our x-rays were always

taken from the front. I would call your doctor and ask him.

From what I understand, some technicians take x-rays from the back to

lessen the exposure of radiation to breast tissue (even for males

this is a good idea as I learned that men CAN get breast cancer too

although it is rare).

It should not make a difference in the curve whether the xray is

taken from the front or the back. I prefer my son to be xrayed from

the back for this reason.

In our case, the xray was always taken from front to back (AP I

think it is.) When the Tech took it from back to front (PA) the

curve was less due to the fact that our dd has rib fusions and a

chest wall deformity. I was told that with a chest wall deformity

it should be taken AP. Our dd has congenital scoli though.
