Guest guest
Welcome, Terri! I look forward to hearing about your workouts. Which Pilates dvd(s) are you using? -----Original Message-----From: exercisevideos [mailto:exercisevideos ]On Behalf Of handt@... Hi there. My name is Terri and I joined this group a week ago or so, because I've been trying to get back into a regular exercise routine and because I thought I could learn some great tips while here. I admit that I'm not familiar with the regular posters, but I also admit that I got more than I expected. You guys are so charged up and dedicated! The posts I've been reading, I admit, are making me feel guilty for when I don't exercise but energized when I do. I work in NYC and so many people go to gyms and studios for their exercise and yoga and pilates, that I often felt funny or discouraged for using DVDs for my exercise routines. It's nice to see that using DVDs as part of your exercise routine is not only encouraged here but totally normal! I just ordered P90 yesterday, with all the great talk about it. I didn't know what it was and did some research and now I'm very excited about starting it up. It's not going to be easy dedicating 6 days, though, especially when 5 of those days require me to get up at 5am to exercise (I've been doing pilates for a while). But I'm glad I'm here, because I'm hoping your posts will keep me dedicated and focused. I really need it! -Terri-
Guest guest
Hi there. I have four DVDs: Pilates Complete for Everyone Perfect Mix Precision Toning and Sculpting 3 Dimensional Toning The last three are all by Kries. I like Pilates Complete because you don't have to watch the screen to know what to do. Her voiceover is calm and accurate. I like JK's DVDs because she integrates dance on some instructions and weights on others (for aerobic pilates), but her instructions aren't always clear so you have to learn the routines first before you know what do to without watching the screen. Still, I love the results on all. It doesn't seem like much, but the moves do so very much! -Terri- RE: Newbie on board...To: exercisevideos > Welcome, Terri! Guest guest
hi terri welcome. even with such a large following here and other fitness boards, there are still some who will think DVDS can't get you into shape! LOL, if they only knew. sometimes it becomes an addiction LOL. i would start slow and not push to get all 6 days in. when i started i did 3 days a week with light exercise and i built up pretty quick. i get up quarter 6 most mornings just to get workouts in. but its well worth the time invested even its just 30 min i don't something every morning. i think pilates workouts are a great way to start out as well. i am getting back into pilates again and its really helping my tight back. kassia
Guest guest
Hi Terri! Welcome! Don't feel guilty, just jump in when you can! I thought I was weird for liking DVDs rather than gyms too but decided oh well, let me be weird then. I like the classes and cardio equipment at gyms but find the weight machines are too big for me (I'm not quite 5' tall) and even when I adjust them to their "shortest" setting I still don't feel entirely comfortable on some. I've never been comfortable doing the free weights on my own before either but now that I'm used to it with videos I could but have enough of my own that I don't need the gym for that anymore either! I'm going to be graduating from P90 in a few days (I can't even hardly believe I'm saying that) and am really glad I went through it all. Dedicating 6 days consistently was tough sometimes and there were weeks I didn't (and made up those days later). It got REALLY boring in the middle too but it was worthwhile to stick with it. I've come a long way in terms of cardio endurance and strength because of doing that program. I didn't follow the nutritional program or do the supplements and I wasn't overweight or out of shape to begin with so I don't think my body has changed a whole lot on the outside (though my abs are looking better) but I can really feel the changes when I do this and other workouts now. Let us know how your workouts go, pilates or P90 (or anything else) and we'll cheer you on! Newbie on board... Hi there.
