Hi Tonya, I got a letter from the state of Michigan about the new renewal process that they are starting, problem is that the letter was so vague that I have no idea what they were trying to get at! I emailed the person in charge of doing the QA testing/QA Units and she told me don't send anything in...I all ready did because the renewal cycle will now be based upon when I was tested. I took the test on June 6, 2007 one week before my hysterectomy on June 12th! I hurried to mail in my payment ($30) and copies of my workshop certificates NOW I found out that it won't be due until June 2009! I'm NOT a happy camper. I only need 24 QA units (24 hours of workshops/classes) and I have 48! So now I will have to mail them in again next year....hopefully they won't give me any problem about all ready

paying. How long have you been a personal trainer? I've been signing since I was 19 yrs old and now I'm 43. I graduated from Madonna University with my interpreting degree (Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sign Language Studies - Interpreting) in 1996 and have been interpreting ever since. In addition to that I'm involved in Deaf bowling (I'm the league's Vice President,) Detroit Association of the Deaf, Deaf church activities and I tutor hearing students learning sign language at my alma mater. I really need to go for national certification so that I can earn more money and have more job opportunities. I will be studying for that this summer. Sounds like you will be busy with school too! Are you getting a degree in sports management?

JenTonya - wrote: Jen, No you don't sound arrogant to me at all. I completely understand. I hate going to the same workshops year after year because I don't feel like I learn anything new either. Luckily for me, in the fitness arena, you can go to different specialty workshops that count toward your CECs and don't have to just

do personal training workshops. Yeah, they are pretty much 1 hour for 1 CEC (actually with ACE they do it as a decimal so 1 hour equals 0.1 CEC and we have to get a total of 2.0 or 20 hours), but you can do some of them as home study and those seem to take me longer then one hour per CEC unit because I don't learn as well that way. That's why I prefer the workshops. Hands on is always better in my opinion, but not always an option when you live in the middle of nowhere like I do. I think the similarities are in that we each have to do continuing education to maintain certification. Very different in the types of classes we have to take, but similiar in the format of the certification renewal process. Tonya SPN Exam??Hi ,I am wondering if you could please check to see if my SPN exam has been graded yet. I sent it in one week ago. ISSA received it on the 10th. I thought I read that it takes three days

to grade?? Anyway, please let me know if it's not too much to ask. Thank you!Darcy
