Hi, everyone,It's been a rough week so far. My wife has been hospitalized forissues we think are related to her migraines, so I'm trying to holdthe fort at home by myself. It's a little tougher now that school isout, but fortunately our son has been able to stay with friends whileI'm at the hospital.I actually have stuck to my exercise and eating plan so far though. Ialso have my laptop with me, so it's not too tough keeping up with mywork. This morning I did Jari Love's Get Ripped, which felt pretty good.

I'm so sorry to hear about your wife! I bet Get Ripped helped with the stress, I'll have to pull that one out soon myself! It sounds like you're doing really well so far in spite of the difficulties I know a situation like this brings with it. I hope your positive attitude and great ways of taking care of yourself, despite the challenges, continues but especially I hope that your wife will be home very soon. My prayers are with you both and your son!

Thanks for your thoughts, everybody. Dawn is still at the hospital.

All the test, including an EEG, show nothing abnormal, so we know she

hasn't had a stroke or anything like that. She's still having her

symptoms though. Pain medication has so far given only limited

relief. I don't know if she's coming home today or not.

I have kept up on the exercise though. I did Jari Love's Get Ripped

to the Core today. It was tougher than it was last week, and I worked

up a bigger sweat than normal when doing it, but it felt good.

Thanks again,

Hi, everybody,

Just wanted to give a heads-up and let you all know that life keeps

getting more interesting around here (unfortunately).

Dawn came home from the hospital Friday. However, her younger brother

was at a hospital having gall bladder surgery late last week. They

even had to go in a second time get find a stone that was lodged in

there somewhere. So Dawn was dealing with that.

On top of that, while he was at the hospital his wife died! We don't

know the cause of death for sure yet, but she had a bad heart and her

doctors always told her that something could happen at any time.

So this week we get to go out of town to a funeral. That's going to

mess up my plans for exercise I'm sure. I was hoping to get one

solid, honest week in because the following week we head for vacation.

Oh, well.

Thanks for thinking of us, everybody.

Thanks again for thinking of us, everybody. As if we don't have

enough to deal with, our sump pump went out yesterday and we had major

flooding in Wisconsin last night. It didn't get too bad in our

basement, but we had to have a plumber come and put in a new pump

right away.

Then I woke up at 1:30am and found the power was out. It was still

out when I got up, so no workout because the DVD player wouldn't work

without it of course. (Power is back now.)

I'm just wondering if there is anything else we can cram into our

lives right now.

Hi again, everybody,

Okay, I swear I am not making this up. Just when we thought things

couldn't get any worse, my wife's brother (whose wife just died) had

to go back into the hospital with pain following two gall bladder

surgeries. I'm not sure yet if his wife's funeral is going to take

place on time. They are going to try to give him enough pain killers

so that the funeral can go on as planned. And today my wife is with

her family and she doesn't know if her grandma is even going to live

through the night! It looks like we'll be having another funeral soon.

But I got a workout in today. I did Janis Saffell's Hardcore Kickbox.

It felt good after not getting to do a workout yesterday.

I use fitday.com.

I also found that reading books keeps me motivated.  So far the most recent

books I've read was Skinny Bitch, Naturally Thin, and Confessions of a Carb

Queen (I think I read them in that exact order too lol).  I am now reading

Psycho-Cybernetics (a goal-setting type book).

(I have to give credit to Skwigg for me reading almost all of these books -

Skinny Bitch was borrowed from a friend).  :o)

They help to keep me motivated and looking forward and not at my food mess ups.

In the case of Naturally Thin there were some great tricks in there that help

you to able to eat the things you like without feeling guilty or binging.  Conf.

of a Carb Queen was basically a memoir but I could identify with the out of

control binging plus I just like to read about other people and any weight loss

success story in general.  Skinny Bitch, the potty-mouth way it was written,

just made me laugh.

Basically to stay motivated I read anything I can online or books or magazines,

that is diet and fitness related, I found some blogs of other people who have

done what I want to do and focus on moving forward.  I also look for figure

competitors or weight loss success stories of women who are my height or with

bodies that I'm sure I can achieve.

Also know that the scale going up after eating something junky is not " fat " .  It

comes off over the next few days of eating clean.  That is probably the ONE

thing I wish I knew a looooong time ago.......I also wish I knew to get rid of

that " perfect or not at all " attitude a long time ago too.

Liza :o)

Hi Ladies!

I got the biggest shot of reality this week. Hopefully it leads to motivation. A

coworker told me I looked like I hadn't been in a gym for three years. I've been

crying since Thursday.

I plan all the time and usually stick to a plan until it starts working, then

fall apart and start self sabotaging. How can I stay focused? It seems the

normal mind goo isn's working with me!

Does anyone know of any software that can help you stay on track? My old trainer

swore by the Body Bugg program, but I can't see paying for a system (much like I

can't see paying a trainer...damn economy). What about any apps that work on the

iPhone?

Here's to starting my plan (again) for Monday (again).

I am sorry that you have such an ass of a coworker. Somebody should print in

big bold letters IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT and

post it at her workstation.

On a different forum, one lady has a nice phrase how to deal with such comments:

" What a terribly inappropriate thing to say. You must be so ashamed of

yourself. " Memorize it and use it. And walk away with no further comments.

A few months from now she will be asking for your " magic recipe " how you got so

toned and nice looking. You can do it!

As I read your post, I had lots of mental images of how I would have reacted to

that comment (before then crying all weekend). Much easier said than done, but

brush it off. Someone who says something that stupid has *got* to have some

issues that have nothing to do with you!

I have to second the Psycho-Cybernetics for getting into the right mindset and

staying focused! I rarely read, and am not usually into the self-help type

stuff, but it has definitely kept me on track more. My stack of M & F Hers and

Oxygen magazines on the table and by the bed keep me motivated too. As far as

food, everyone around here will agree that you just have to get the crap out of

the house. (And for those familiar with my " America stash " , I've solved the

problem as best I could by putting it all in the storage closet, which is in the

basement of the next building. If I ever have a craving that strong, I'd have to

get dressed and hike all the way over there, then dig through the boxes!)

I've put pictures of my body-ideal up in the kitchen and remind myself every

time I open a cupboard or the fridge that, no matter what mistakes I made at my

last meal, every single bite I take either moves me towards my goal or further

from it. (I think I stole that from someone here, actually, so thanks!) I used

to be a person who had a bad meal and binged the rest of the day " since it was

ruined anyway " . That's a hard habit to break!

Good luck! The ladies here are probably the biggest motivation and help.

- Janine

Wow. What a jerk co-worker you have. I'm really sorry to hear about that.

I bought a bodybugg earlier this year and I love it. If you are the kind of

person who loves to plan and analyze what you are doing you may really like it.

Don't you be crying over what some donkey at work said,

what matters most is how you see yourself.

(most people are just trying to make themselves feel better, or they are
