Hi Everyone,

Since we were talking about Aerobox (kathy smith and michael olajide, jr.) yesterday, I decided to do it today. I have to admit, I had a certain dread factor b/c of the jump rope intervals in this workout - but I made it through and was fine. It definately was not as hard as I thought/remembered - I'm thinking part of the reason is I've become better at kickboxing workouts so the punches weren't foreign to me in terms of form and speed (no kicks in this workout, just punching combos and jump rope intervals). I have also gotten better with high impact stuff, so the jump rope intervals, while not easy, weren't the torture I remembered. It has been quite a while since I did this workout - sometimes I wonder if I just build things up in my mind as being really hard and then when I do them I find they aren't as bad as I anticipated.

Anyway, the workout starts with a fairly good-length warm-up and punching combo section, then it alternates jump rope w/ boxing intervals - you do this three times. Each jump rope section gets progressively harder. One backgrounder does the workout without a jump rope (as I do!) and on the last jump rope section (the hardest one) Kathy doesn't participate it is just , one male backgrounder and one female backgrounder.

does most of the teaching in this one and Kathy is more of a participant. This one is artistically filmed with sepia toned shots, black and white shots and color shots. The music goes well with it. Quite a good production - especially for the time of its release - 1994.

Afterwards I had some extra time and wanted a little extra cardio so I did 10 Min Solution Kickboxing Fat Blasting section - lots of burpees and variations and side to side agility drills. Good stuff. I also did the Washboard Abs section of this workout.

I think I have come up with a good use for Aerobox and that is - to use it with Cathe's Kick Max. I always hated the high impact section in Cathe's KickMax, but always felt short changed just by doing the punching and kicking comobs. I'm thinking alternating the punching combos in Cathe's Kickmax with the jump rope sections in Aerobox would make for a great workout. I need to give this a try soon.

This workout also got me thinking of the Trainer's Edge Killer Abs and Back workout that MIchael O. is in - it has been ages since I have done that one, so I'll have to pull it out again and see what it is like.

Anyway, I"m pretty sure tomorrow will be a yoga day - with maybe, some light cardio.

I have very slight DOMS from my weight workouts this week, so that is good!

Take care!

Donna
