on monday (mar 24) i walked chinook for 45 mins in the morning...

then did 'elle glam total toning' in the evening.

this is a 47 minute endurance workout with light weights. lots

of compounded (upper+lower at same time) exercises put into

combos. the workout is divided into standing work, floorwork

(some leg lifts, laying shoulder, chest and tris, then abs) and a

short stretch. the instructor was good... pleasant, athletic,

encouraging but did cue late. i have no idea what her name is!

she and her four backgrounders looked like perfect young fitness

models. sometimes this bothers me but i didnt mind too much that

night. two of the backgrounders do a bit easier modifications

(leaving out some balance work out of a combo, for example).

i thought that this workout was hard. balance work was added to

the lunge combos and that was challenging especially due to the

speed of the reps and their relatively high number. lots of

squats, lunges, plies and leg lifts for the lower body done

half-time, then done on time, and then some had pulses. this

resulting in so much soreness in my legs that i couldnt walk for

two days! im still sore and today is wednesday! i know that my

lower body is out of shape, but geesh!! i was not expecting that.

my lower back was twinging when it came time for abs so i had to

sit out on some of those reps, but i didnt mind! starting the

workout by working the large muscles of the legs and butt really

boosts the heart rate fast, but i think that my heart rate was

unusually high...it actually got up to 90% of max during this

workout, and i was modifying it!

i recall thinking that i was still sick with the cold that ive

had for about a frigging year (more like 2 months, but it feels

like a year) and i ended up taking the next 2 days off, suffering

with the sore legs, tiredness, and my constant companions: cough

and stuffy head... argh!!!

anyway, i would like to try this workout again if im ever back to

100% health... i expect it will seem more do-able for me then.

:*carolyn.
