Guest guest
My goodness... more hugs ...Hang in there!Darcy First of all, thank you all so much for your kind notes, prayers, healing vibes and everything else. I'll try to reply to individual notes tomorrow. Tonight I'm just trying to get an update out and then I'm going to sleep. DH is doing well. They still do not know what is going on but he is holding steady. His kidneys are functioning fine but his labs keep showing stage 4 renal failure. They're not getting worse, but they're also not getting better. An ultrasound showed no blockages or masses. Tomorrow morning they will probably do a kidney biopsy (needle biopsy). The doctors hope this will give them answers as to what is going on. Some tests indicate a weak positive for a possible reaction from a medication he's on. The medication is known to cause kidney failure but it is a very rare side effect and he's been on it for 2 years so we're not sure if that's it. Another possibility raised was an autoimmune issue and I think there were others but I can't remember everything right now. The biopsy should tell us more. In any case, he is acting and feeling normally, it is all very strange. He didn't know anything was wrong and we wouldn't have at this point except that he had a blood test done to follow up on chronic anemia he's had for years and his doctor noticed that while the iron and other associated levels were better after an iron infusion he had 6 weeks ago his kidney levels were way off and ordered more tests (he was called at work Friday and told to come in that day for the tests). Those tests showed the same thing but worse and then Saturday morning he was told a bed was being readied for him at the hospital. He's never felt " sick " thankfully so we are thankful for his doctor's looking at all the test results and not just the iron levels. We are being told at this point they are looking for an acute condition that is potentially reversible, as opposed to chronic kidney disease which they think is unlikely. We are hopeful they'll be comfortable releasing him on Wednesday and following up with him on an out patient basis. We won't know that for sure until Tuesday at the earliest though. I'm planning, at this time, to pick up the kids after school and take them out to see him tomorrow afternoon. I'm planning to send out another update tomorrow evening. In the meantime, thank you again, so much for your caring and support!!
