Hi Sara,

I've had plenty of those days... too many. Every person here has!

Shred is a very tough 20 minutes! It caught me off guard how challenging it was. I'm doing level 1 for the 2nd time tomorrow.

This is VERY interesting about the video! Not what I'd have expected from her either and how weird to find it out just after Shred! I don't have or know that one but... I have ANOTHER Walk Strong from her! Mine is from the WATP Express Series, made in 2006. It is in a purple case and the strength work in it is all done using the stretchie band (resistance band)!! This one is 30 minutes long. I don't think I'm familiar with either of the two you mention!

Now I'm off to do a search on these...

Walk Strong - Sansone

So, I had to do a review of this one, as it really surprised me today. I woke up feeling a bit off, and made myself go in the basement to workout before I could think about it too much and talk myself out of it, lol. You know those days?Anyway, I did 30 day shred, level 1 for the first time and it went okay. I had to go low impact on some of the cardio, and I can't stretch my arms out all the way on jumping jacks because of the low ceiling. So when I finished Shred, feeling slightly defeated, I thought a nice 30 min would lift me up a bit and make me feel more capable, lol. This is the Walk Strong with the pink cover, and is 33 min. She has another one also called Walk Strong from a different series that has a blue cover and is 37 min. I guess I'll do that on Thursday so I can compare the two.The workout starts like all of the s, brief warm up, basic moves. She mentions that we will be doing some weight training. For the weight segments, uses 5lb dumbbells (heavier than I've seen her use before) and others use 2lb balls, weighted gloves, etc. Well, imagine my surprise when my pal goes right into REAL sqauts, lunges, and combo moves - eerily similar to what I just finished in Shred! I emphasize REAL because in my past workouts, she only does "mini squats" and partial lunges, etc. And usually keeps them to a minimum. I swear one lunge/upper body combo was exactly the same as one that I did in Shred, lol. Rear lunges, side lunges, plie squats, wide/narrow squats - she does them all, and with delt raises, tri ext, bi curls, etc. She rotates between the weight training combos and walking segments for the entire workout. And it ends with a cool down and really brief stretching, as usual. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't near the level of intensity of Shred, but since I had just finished Shred, this wasn't really what I had planned to follow it with, heh. But since I lived, I'll do the same thing on Thurs and try the other Walk Strong to see what that one has in store for me. ;)But overall, a nice surprising workout! Another note - talks the whole time, of course but mostly talks about form and counts reps during the weight training. Not just random chat, so that might appeal to some.

maybe my purple case is actually blue? I'm looking at it online and it looks blue.

hi sara - i really love that you doing lots of posting! im glad

that you joined our group. did i get around to introducing

myself? im carolyn, age 44 (or so), living in ontario canada

with my dh, our 2 sons (ages 7 and 9) and our dog chinook. im a

SAHM, and work for my dh in our home office (i gave up my 15 year

career in info technology for a bank to stay home with the kids

and do everything for dh so he can concentrate on his business).

>workout before I could think about it too much and talk

> myself out of it, lol. You know those days?

heck, yah!! that has been happening way too often for me lately :/

> Anyway, I did 30 day shred, level 1 for the first time and it went

> okay.

i have this one... i think that i should try it tomorrow! i

have watched some of it and i will have to use the rebounder for

the cardio segments due to the impact. im sorry to hear that

you couldnt get going on the cardio because of your small space

:( i hope that you like the other levels of this workout better.

Hi Carolyn,

Nice to officially meet you, lol. Sounds like we have a lot in

common - you with 2 sons and a dog. I'm married to a wonderful guy

and we have three dogs (two boys and a bossy girl), lol! I suppose

I'm sort of a SAHM these days too, as I left my 10 yr career a few

years ago because I was burned out and unhappy. Now I work from home

part time doing data entry and commercial real estate research, am

currently taking a web design class online, and stay pretty busy

helping out the dog rescue I volunteer for. I maintain their website

and petfinder listings and make handmade cards to sell to raise

money, among other things. Oh yeah, and do the laundry, dishes,

cooking, and cleaning (when I really have to) LOL!

Yeah, Shred was a challenge for me, but probably more because I was

feeling off than anything else. The low celing is a bummer, but I'm

used to it, and I don't really like jumping jacks very much anyway,

heh. A lot of times I just jogged in place instead of what they were

doing and my heart rate was up plenty. I'm hoping for a better

experience with Shred tomorrow! Let us know how the cardio parts are

on the rebounder. That's another prob with the low ceiling

downstairs - using the rebounder down there makes me too paranoind

about hitting my head. But all my STUFF is in my basement gym.

Hmmm...

I STILL can't believe was doing real squats and lunges! The

lunges really threw me - they are my least favorite thing to do and I

can't recall EVER doing a lunge in any of my other s. I think

that was part of why I liked her workouts - simple with no lunges,

lol. Oh, well. If I spend as much time doing lunges as complaining

about them maybe I'll grow to like them? I doubt it, but at least

they will get easier!

I'm SO glad to be part of this group! I wish I had thought to look

for it two years ago when I was sliding off the fitness wagon.

Probably would have stopped me from falling off so HARD. :) I hope

my posts are helpful, fun, and informative! I know I'm long-winded,

but hope it's not a waste of time for those who make it thru my

posts! ;)

Thanks!

Sara

Oh, I have this one! It's a nice little workout, but you're right it's

a little too much after Shred! Mine is ona compilation disc I got at

Wal-Mart. I believe you can get this at Target now on one of the

compilation DVDs they sell. I believe it's on the one with 5

workouts. The other DVD is has 3 workouts on one DVD.

Awwww, thanks ! I wasn't looking for compliments, just feeling

paranoid that I was talking too much! lol I'm actually a pretty shy

person, but am just so thrilled to have people to chat with about

exercise videos! I haven't been this fired up about workouts in a

long, long time and am so happy that I am!

Good luck on the rebounder!

I don't hand out compliments just to make people feel good either so no, I didn't do it because I thought you were looking for one! :-)

Anyway, life interfered big time with my exercise plan today and being that this is my first chance to sit down on the couch (as opposed to in the car, where it feels like I've been all day) and I have to get back off it in a few minutes to go to work, and I are going to have to get together another day. Tomorrow my DD and I are walking in the local 4th of July parade in the morning and then celebrating my SIL and her son's birthdays (yesterday and today) in the afternoon. I doubt I'll get it in tomorrow either... Saturday is a possibility though. We'll see. I'll get to it though... sooner or later.
