After weight training I did Amy's 10 Min. Solution DVD - abs (went much better this time since I knew what was coming

I've wondered about that one. Do you get a good burn just from one of the 10 min routines?

You are doing awesome with Amy's workouts. I really like Slo-Mo though there are a few exercises here and there that aren't my favorites then there are ones that I love that are super hard too lol

Hi Everyone,

I didn't have much time to post yesterday - b/c I spent the better part of my day looking for the password to my home network/wireless router. We got a new laptop over the weekend, and darn if I could find that password so I could get it onto our network. My house is a serious organization issue - I really don't have much in the way of time to organize stuff between working, DD, and just trying to keep up with general tidying/cleaning/laundry, etc. I have a bad feeling that we threw it out. Anyone know any computer tricks to help me recover it somehow? GGRR!

Okay, rant over....on Sunday I jumped back into weight training. I did Amy Bento's Slo Mo for the first time. I did the chest, biceps and triceps split. I must say, I'm pleased! :) When Amy shipped these workouts she included a sheet with the exercises and the weight she was using. In glancing through, I thought I'd be able to match Amy's weights for the exercises, but she does some unique moves that puts your body in different positions and challenges the muscles in new ways so I pretty much had to go about one level lower than her on almost everything. Generally, Amy does 8 reps per set and usually does 3 sets. For this particular split she used resistance bands, dumbells, a barbell and a step. Some of the moves were unweighted - like staggered hand push-ups and tricep dips (done w/ your feet on the step hands on the floor). For chest she does this "around the world" fly - I had to use 5's (Amy

used 8's) and for chest press she does a decline where your head is lower than you feet - so that was different for me, too and I had to lighten up for it. Overall I must have gotten a good workout b/c I'm sore - mostly in my chest. After weight training I did Amy's 10 Min. Solution DVD - abs (went much better this time since I knew what was coming) and stretch. I warmed up w/ T-Tapp basic plus. I have been neglecting my T-Tapp lately and I can feel a big difference in my hip, hamstring and lower back - my fault though b/c I was feeling so good I was slacking on doing it. I plan to use Basic or Basic Plus as my warm-ups for all my weight workouts this week and Primary Back Stretch alone before cardio this week.

For this morning's workout I did Amy's Hi Lo Dome Challenge. I did combos 1-4 and intervals 1-4 but I ran out of steam when she put combos 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 together - so I skpped over to the cool down stretch section. I liked this one, it is a little tricky and fast moving for me, but, like all the Amy workouts I have done, the more you do them the better you get at them. I think the problem is that Amy moves very quickly - it isn't that the choreography is that complex, just at the speed at which she throws it out to you. It is a bit of a flaw when you're learning the routine, but since it is a DVD workout you will presumably do it over and over again and slow breakdown of teaching combos can get tiresome if you repeatedly do a workout. I've noticed now that I've done a few of Amy's workouts that that just seems to be her style - fast moving, not a whole lot of time for set up or break down - it is true of

her cardio and strength workouts. With strength, you can always pause for set up and w/ her cardio workouts if you keep at it eventually you'll catch on. I caught on to just about everything this morning, just had to rewind a bit and at times had to be happy to be on the wrong foot doing my own thing. I don't think the heat helped me either! I did get a good sweaty session in for sure.

For tomorrow I'm thinking of doing the leg split w/ core and then the next day doing a short cardio and more stretching. I was thinking of leaving legs to the end of the week, but my upper body is fried and I think moving the short cardio and stretching day up earlier in my rotation may help me to finish the week well.

Anyway, stay cool everyone! It is supposed to be over 100 here today. Still, I prefer this to cold. We're having our roof replaced and the workers started at 5 a.m. today!

Take care!

Donna
