Guest guest
I finally got a chance to do Eoin Finn's Magically Hips practice from Power Yoga for Happiness! I've watched it once but that was at least a month ago. I should have watched it again before doing it but I did fine anyway. It is 55 minutes long and, as the name implies, really goes after the hips. I found a lot of it challenging in a good way and his wonderful, do what you can where you are today attitude made it very easy to just stick to the beginner modifications on some poses or go after the more advanced versions on others as I felt up to it. I want everyone to know I was able to stand in tree pose today too!!! I was so excited! I made sure I was near a wall and did need it a few times but my balance was on today I guess. I love his attitude and gentleness. It is inspiring and relaxing, though a little distracting when he makes me laugh! The only thing I didn't like was that he doesn't mirror cue. I got a bit fouled up on a couple of poses because he was giving a series of instructions (more than 1 or 2) about what to do with your left this and your right that. I think once I've done the practice another time or two though it won't bother me. I did notice, as I have one other occasions sometimes, that the yoga stirred up emotions in me. I noticed afterwards I am more emotional and not anxious but sad feeling. That's a weird thing to get from Power Yoga for Happiness, but I did feel really good just as it ended. I think it just stirred up feelings about DH's medical issues more than anything else. It is all good though. All feelings are good, it is what you do with them that makes a difference. I am simply observing mine and letting them be as they are. We're going to a fireworks show (watching from a friend's driveway) this evening if it doesn't rain. I might be sad too because the friend's next door neighbor moved away earlier this year and she was the person who started the fireworks parties at her house (we got to know the person hosting it tonight because of the friend who moved). It definitely won't be the same. Oh well, I'm going with the flow and off to make dinner now (a very interesting pork chop and sweet potato recipe both kids actually like a lot but DS likes the chops while DD likes the sweet potatoes).
