Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Finally posting my a.m. workout which was Amy's CIA Workout - hi/lo knockout. I made it through! Well, I didn't do the entire workout b/c I wanted to ensure that I had time for a good stretch today b/c I was pretty stiff and sore yesterday from lack of stretching. What I did do was 99% of the workout - I did combo 1, knockout 1, combo 2, knockout 2, combo 3, knockout 3, and knockout 4. I only skipped combo 4. I did the weighted core section and the stretch and then added on a stretch from Amy's Abs & Stretch DVD. Anyway, the CIA workout is a fairly typical Amy Bento cardio routine - she comes at you fast so you need to be ready in mind and body right at the start! For the most part, I don't find Amy's choreo to be overly complex, but b/c she does come at you with it quickly I can get confused, however, generally I find that after a few run throughs of the moves I get it! After each hi/lo combo Amy adds in a kickboxing/bootcamp blast. These sections are shorter (or at least they felt shorter) than the combos, but they're pretty tough. I think knockout # 2 was the toughest with a burpee jumping jack move! The workout was mixed impact, but leaning towards high - so probably not something you want to do daily or if you have bad feet or knees (or unforgiving flooring or old worn out shoes!). After combo and knockout # 2 she takes you through 1 & 2 combined and then does that same thing after # 3 and 4. The music in this one is pretty good and motivating. The weighted core section was good -a blend of standing and lying exercises. She does a modified "turkish get up" (which I think is a kettlebell move, right?) I only used a 3 lb weight for that particular exercise b/c I always want to be careful w/ my back. I think I can go heavier in the future though. For the standing work I used 5's. I like Amy's core work in general as it is definately not the same-old-crunches! The stretch at the end was decent, but not long enough for me - also I thik calves were neglected and w/ some of the jumping in the workout they probably should have been included. So, I was glad to have added on some extra stretching!! Overall this is a good workout if you like and are up for the Amy challenge! The CIA DVD offers several pre-mixed workouts - just the combos, just the knockouts, combs and knockouts 1 & 2, combos and knockouts 3 & 4 - these shorter options would make this long workout do-able on time crunched days. (Although these shorter options, once warm-up, cool down, core and stretch are added in, still clock in at about an hour!) Tomorrow is All Pump! Take care, Donna

Guest guest
Hi Donna, You are very inspiring to me when I read about all the fancier cardio you do! Thanks for the detail on it, too. I'm looking forward to hearing about All Pump. I have that one and previewed a while ago, but haven't attempted it yet. I don't think I'm quite ready, but will enjoy hearing you talk about it, lol!
