Guest guest
Please be very careful with chemo drugs. My son had CMT and also Hodgkinsons disease, they gave him Vicristine 2 times . At the time he had not been diagnosed with CMT. One day he just fell down on the floor and could not walk or use his hands. After one month in the hospital where he had all kinds of tests to see if the cancer had spread to his spine or brain. They finally tested hikm and we found out he had CMT . Got it from my family. I also have it in in my later years. At any rate he spent 4 months in the rehab centre where they fitted him for braces for his legs and also splints for his hands. Vincristine is the drug of choice for Hodgskinsons Disease . He did learn to walk and also to use his hands as he loved working on CB and HAM radios. He lived till he was 33 at which time he died of complicatins of the Hodgkinsons Disease . Please be very careful of these drugs.
Guest guest
Ten years ago I was diagnosed with Large cell lymphoma and received chemo which included Vincristine. I have type 2 CMT and have worn AFOs for many years. I was fully aware that Vincristine would cause more discomfort with my neuropathy but chose to take it anyway. My thinking was that I preferred life with neuropathy over the other option that I was given with a lymphoma diagnosis. I do have a problem with increased burning and tingling in my feet but take Neurontin for easing the pain there. I no longer wear the AFOs since walking on plastic seems to increase my foot pain. I now use a cane and get around ok but obviously not nearly as well as I did with AFOs.
