Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I started back at exercising today with karen voight. I ordered her quick and slim sweat DVD from Deep Discount during their sale - it is a good 30 minute routine. 20 minutes of actual cardio and 4 min warm-up, 6 min cool down. The cardio is what I call "typical " it isn't crazy high impact (although she does show some higher impact options for some of the exercises) but she manages to get your HR up by using creative arm movements combine with the lower body movements. I generally like her cardio and this one seemed easier to follow than most. I don't necessarily agree w/ Collage's Inter/Adv rating. I think this one is more solidly intermediate, but maybe with practice I can bump it up to Inter/Adv. It will definately get use in my collection on days when I need a shorter workout or want to add in extra cardio. As a nice bonus the DVD is chaptered, so you can easily do 10 minutes of cardio only. there is a separate chapter for warm-up, cardio 1 (10 min), cardio 2 (10 min) and cool down. After cardio I wanted to work on flexibility. Sitting in the car and not getting my regular exercise in for two weeks really tightened me up. I ended up doing 's Yoga Sculpt DVD which is about 25 minutes of yoga postures and 20 minutes of Pilates-inspired ab and back work. Definately needed the stretching and I still need more. this week DH is working nights (second shift) so I plan to add in yoga in the evenings after Dd hits the hay. Even if it is 10-20 minutes I think it will help. It will also keep me from eating! Although I wasn't horrible w/ food on my vacation, I wasn't exactly good either. I probably had my year's alotment of french fries!! Not to mention burgers...we didn't really stop at any fast food places, but it seemed that wherever we went burgers & fries were on the menu. I also ate my year's worth of meat. Although I did have fish and chicken and some salads a couple of times. I'm not a huge meat eater, but there is a great steakhouse we always go to when we visit Montana that makes even a semi-vegetarian like myself appreciate steak. For tomorrow the plan is so far to maybe do another 20 minute cardio routine (maybe something else from ) and then do Breakthru Pilates Sculpt w/ Dozois and York. I'm really glad I took an extra day off from work - I am definately glad to have one more day of recovery. DD goes back to camp tomorrow. I hope she is okay with it! She always seems better about going on the days when she knows I'll be picking her up. Take care, Donna
