Guest guest
I wanted to do something different, so I dug out an old VHS tape-- Austen's Ultimate Fat Burner. It's about 45 minutes and alternates 3 1/2 minutes of aerobic/plyometric exercises with 1 1/2 minutes of weight training exercises. The cool down is (quoting the box) " Yoga inspired moves " . This is a tape I bought years ago and tried maybe twice, and has been gathering dust ever since. is.....well, she's very in this video. There is no complex choreography in this workout, but since she was evidently experimenting with cueing telepathically, I consistently missed the first repetition of a move. The aerobic sections have three levels of movement, with everyone progressing from the easiest to the most difficult. Not a whole lot of modification is shown--in fact I think only one modification is shown. There's one section that's basically 3 1/2 minutes of scissors, and I could have used a modification on that. Weirdly, it was the level 3 on that section, basically jumping into alternating lunges, that was the easiest for me. (I have carpet, maybe that's the problem?) The weight training was way too easy. Because I hadn't done the workout in a while, I went with the recommended 3 lb weight and couldn't even feel it for the first exercises. I ended up rewinding the tape and redoing some of the exercises with 5 lb weights, which helped. Even so, I thought the intervals were too short to get any benefit. The cool down section was ok. She was actually cueing at that point. I did like the sport inspired moves, something I don't do a lot of, and I did feel I got some benefit from this. I certainly did work up a sweat. And I'm glad I'm able to finish this, because I couldn't the last time I did it. But I think this is going in the give away pile. Guest guest
Nice write up, Anne! I haven't used my workouts a whole lot yet, so I'm never quite sure about her. I've been watching some of her old " getting fit " episodes on ESPN classic and really getting a kick out of it. Some of her moves and outfits are pretty funny. Sounds like you got a decent workout even if it's not a keeper. Sara > > > I did like the sport inspired moves, something I don't do a lot of, and I did feel I got some benefit from this.
