Guest guest
I've got Ripped, S & L, and Ripped and Chiseled. I didn't like 1000 and even though I didn't try RTTC, I know I won't like that because I think it is similar to the 1000, just without the cardio intervals and I'm not a fan of compounded movements. For me, I don't get that good of a workout w/ compound movements because I have to go lighter on the weights because I'm also working too hard to keep my balance. But I do like doing the reps and pulses in S & L. I have the remote close by so I can pause it to change weights and to give my self some extra recovery time between the pushups. I can them all on my knees, but I need a tad bit longer rest time between sets to stretch out. If I remember right, the push up track in Ripped 1000 is even worse than S & L, and I think in Ripped and Chiseled, there are pulsing pushups. I've only done R & C a couple times, and it has been awhile, but I think I can do the pulses on my toes, but need to go to my knees for the regular pushups, or vice versa. The ab work isn't much in S & L, but I try to keep my core engaged, particularly with the lunges because it helps w/ my balance. Also, since I don't have a step to use for the chest track, I use a balance ball, and for me, it is pretty tough to keep my balance and that probably works abs more than just laying on a step. In R & C, I don't think there is ab work, but they did include the abwork from S & L. I need to get back to working out. The last month has been really hectic, we painted all rooms in our house but the bedrooms. > > I LOVED this workout!! I don't know why, but I liked this better than Ripped and RTTC. I used heavier weights than I did with the others because the weights I used with them didn't burn enough and I didn't feel the workouts afterwards. I'm sure working harder made it more fun but, and this is going to sound even more maschochistic, I really liked the pulses! I really had to work hard in this workout! I was struggling with my balance on the lunges too. Like most people, I didn't think the abs section was much but they were okay. I haven't been working abs a lot lately and do need to get back to that though. I burned 275 calories doing this workout, I love it! > > Here's the question... I probably asked this before but if I did I don't remember the answer... when they show the weights everyone is using at the beginning of each exercise, for the people using dumbbells, that is the weight in each hand right? So if it says someone is using 16 pounds, it means they've got 2 8s.... right?! That's what I was doing anyway. I was following the beginner modifier on weights for the most part but did all the pulses and some other more advanced modifications. I had to drop from 5s to 3s on some of the shoulder work though. My arms were in pain! My goals for the September Jari Love rotation will include getting through all of those at 5s, doing all of the pushups, even if they're on my knees, and being able to match Jari on most if not all the weights. I probably could have handled more on some exercises but since I've never done this workout, I wasn't sure how far to push it. > > My only complaint is that they don't show the weights people were using until after the exercises started so I had to guess on what I could probably handle, then see what they were using and sometimes adjust. Like the rotator cuff exercise (which I've never seen before, that was a good one though), I had no idea what to use, picked up something and then saw Jari was only using 5s I think and quickly adjusted my own but I missed some reps. Next time I do this I'll have the worksheets Kassia gave me the link for printed out and will mark down my weights so I know what I did and I'll put an up or down arrow to tell me to adjust the weights next time (or a straight line meaning it was a good weight) then I won't be relying on the weights they show people using so much. (Yes, I could have printed it out for today but forgot to before I started the workout.) > > Gotta run! > > >

Guest guest
Hi ya, Wow, pulsing pushups! I don't have Ripped & Chiseled but saw it is on netflix now so I put it on my queue and hope to try it soon. I was thinking of you this morning as I was doing all the lunges in MIS and kept nearly toppling over... I kept telling myself to keep my abs pulled in and strong so that I could keep my balance and it worked really well! Holding weights made it all the more challenging but keeping my core strong helped a lot! I'm the opposite on the compound movements. I enjoy the extra challenge! I'm trying 1000 this Friday, we'll see how much I like them, combined with cardio intervals, then though!! :-) Re: Jari Love Slim & Lean & question I've got Ripped, S & L, and Ripped and Chiseled.
