Guest guest
Because of the size, and the fact that a kettlebell is iron, I¹d say 15-26 pounds. I can¹t imagine they¹re using 26¹s but they might be. > pretty cool exercises.. what weight do you think they're using? > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy5uU7ku-Lo & NR=1 > <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy5uU7ku-Lo & amp;NR=1> > > Etana Finkler > Dr. Val www.pinkbunnyears.com
Guest guest
In the comments it said that the yellow ones are 15lbs. Never seen a hollow kettlebell before though. Odd. Maybe those were just props for the video shoot. Guest guest
How tough are these exercises on your feet and arch? Do you have an opinion? If I were to buy the 15 pound one, for how long do you think that would be effective before I'd have to move to a higher weight? Do you think the 1 weight would be good for years, or is it something you need to move up with. They seem to work out so many body parts at once!! thanks, Etana Posted by: " Dr. Val " drval@... beausdobermom > Because of the size, and the fact that a kettlebell is iron, I¹d say 15-26 pounds. Guest guest
I own a couple of 18lb kettlebells and a 26lb. Those are damn heavy for certain moves and fine/light for others like swings. I think 15 might be good/heavy to start with and last you quite awhile. They say ideally to buy three in varying sizes, but I don't know many people who can afford that in one shot, especially if there's shipping. Kettlebell exercises are much harder than they look and most people are WAY too optimistic about the amount of weight they can handle with good form. :-) On Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 8:22 AM, Etana.Finkler wrote: > How tough are these exercises on your feet and arch? Guest guest
Kettlebells are basically core training. Pilates is core training too. So they do work out a lot more of your body than the isolation training of BFL. There¹s nothing wrong with either style, both work. 15lbs may be heavy. I can do the swings with a 26 but some of the other stuff I use a 15 and I¹m very strong... I don¹t know what the effect would be on your feet. > How tough are these exercises on your feet and arch? Guest guest
So, how do you incorporate kettleball workouts with BFL? In place of a regular BFL workout, or in addition to. I think a little bit of boredom has set in with my workouts, so I am always looking for some way to change it up. deb ________________________________ From: bodyforlifewomensclub2 [mailto:bodyforlifewomensclub2 ] On Behalf Of Dr. Val Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 7:56 AM To: bodyforlifewomensclub2 Subject: Re: Re: kettle ball Kettlebells are basically core training. Guest guest
If you're doing BFL by the book, kettlebells don't really fit because most exercises end up being total body movements, not something you could sub for an isolation exercise or pyramid the weight with. But if you're beyond BFL by the book, or you're not doing an official challenge, or you're just bored, you could probably do a total body KB routine once a week. So, instead of the weight workouts going upper, lower, upper (or vice versa) three times a week, they could go upper, lower, total body KB. I use one exercise as part of my lower body workout -- the kind of squat swing thing. I start with 15, then 20, then 25. And that's enough.
