Guest guest
Hi, I never got in a workout in on Thursday. It was supposed to be yoga, but I had work to do for my job so I used my exercise time in the morning for that. I had planned on yoga for the evening, but I had a screaming headache (weird b/c i never get headaches, but yesterday my eyes and head were killing me all day - I think it may have been the glare from our snow dusting the day before and the incredibly dry air from the cold. I'm so sick of winter!!) Maybe I can get myself up and out of bed early tomorrow to do yoga. that would be a good thing! Today I did Women's Health Perfect Body workout. I'll definately need to do it again to get a better feel for it though b/c it was one of those mornings with one interruption after another. One would think getting up at 4 a.m. would eliminate interruptions - but DD got up at 5:15 and DH was milling around as well (he gets up at 5 lately and leaves by 6:15ish for work) I also had pet-related interruptions. Geez, if I thought I had the discipline I'd workout at 9pm (but I know I'd only not get it done, as evidenced by yesterday!) Anyway, I did make it through the cardio part of this workout with relatively few interruptions (only a pet related one during the warm-up). The cardio is athletic in style, in fact the first half is based on moves from skating, tennis and swimming (well, as best as you can in an aerobics format). The second half of the workout is kickboxing inspired. I didn't find the cario to be particularly challenging, but it wasn't bad, especially if you like athletic cardio. This section actually reminded me of an old Reebok workout (Power Blast w/ Gaylord which is all athletic/sports inspired cardio -- I think it is out of print now but I may see if I still have a vHS copy of it and pull it out one of these days). The second half of the workout is strength training. At first I was disappointed to see only one set of 5lb handweights being used for all the exercises, but as the workout went on I began to see why light weights were being used. Most of the workout is " functional " with rotation, balance challenges, compound moves, etc. so in many cases, (for me anyway) the 5's were pretty appropriate. For some exercises I did bump it up to 8's or 10's and then just did a quick change to the 5's when the various " twists " were added to the moves. I was heavily interrupted during this section, so I will definately want to do it again to get a better feel for it. The third part of the workout is core - pretty good stuff - all done on the floor. And, the bonus is an athletic stretch using a towel as a prop. Pretty good stuff there, although it could have been longer (I alway say that) Anyway, I think this is good workout for a " functional fitness " day. I'm still not sure what to do next week. Maybe more theme weeks Oh, I forgot to add that Amy Dixon leads this workout and I really like her - she reminds me a little bit of Gin - she makes jokes, but is not quite as goofy as Gin can be sometimes. Take care! Donna ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo!
