nancy,

i wish i could help you with the step problem...but i'm sure help is

on the way--i know a few people here have done the transfirmer

workouts without having the transfirmer step. darcy has the new set

of slanted risers--if you are looking to invest.

the firm workouts have a professional feel...not a lot of yelling and

silly comments. the music is bland...the workouts are usually pretty

solid, well instructed and choreographed.

Arms and don't have a Transfirmer but do have a step. Two steps

actually, a small and a large with 2 sets of risers for each but they

are not interchangeable risers, the small only fit the small, the

large only fit the large. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out how to

create an incline like they do with the TransFirmer and if it is

actually necessary too. I've been doing decline pushups on my toes

with a chair for P90 so I can certainly do that for this. I'm not

sure though if I need the incline for some of the lying arm work. I

see now they're doing some step cardio with it on an incline too. I

suppose any of that could be done just on a regular step too, is that

what most of you do who don't have a TransFirmer or do you do

something else? Any suggestions would be much appreciated! I've been

thinking about buying a TransFirmer because most of the substitutions

I've done so far are mostly unsatisfying, anyone want to talk me out

of it?!

> Observation: I finally figured out something that was standing out

to me about Firm videos. The instructors seem to sing-song the

instructions along with the beat of the music and it is all just cues

and an occasional motivating statement but nothing personal or fun.

Very business-like except for that sing-songy thing. It isn't

bothersome, just a little weird seeming. The music on this is quite

obvious too. Technoish but not bad. Better than P90 Cardio anyway! :-

) The lead instructor and backgrounders all smile a little more than

I think necessary too but that's just me.
