Actually thanks to Rep. Jim and SB-1509 amendments our language is even better than what the American Chiropractic Association got on the federal level (SECTION 2706). However, key for the profession in the OCA’s opinion was not allowing the CCO’s to box our profession into a “musculoskeletal only box.” The OCA again team up with our health care coalition members the nurse practitioner and naturopathic physicians during the CCO Admin Rules Committee meetings which I was appointed to here is the language we got and that which your public comment via email must support by waves! Integration and Care Coordination(2) CCOs shall develop evidence-based or innovative strategies for use within their delivery system networks to ensure access to integrated and coordinated care, especially for members with intensive care coordination needs. CCOs must:(a) Demonstrate that each member has a primary care provider or primary care team that is responsible for coordination of care and transitions and that each member has the option to choose a primary care provider of any eligible CCO participating provider type.” Many chiropractic physician colleagues practice primary care and do not wish to be dropped into a musculoskeletal only box we must be included as a “profession” not just as a “service” which means only pounding down the high spots in people’s spines!…. So as I said the Oregon Chiropractic Association continues to battle for you doctor, are you an OCA member? Please join if not we need your financial support to keep the good fight going in Salem, come join us it’s going to be GREAT! We are indeed approaching that “level playing field” in health care, nearing the top of that mountain……call the OCA office and join today call .
