If you’re using 97140, it can’t be done on same area you adjust (makes no sense, but....) Also make sure you’re not going over the 4 modality limit ph Medlin D.C. From: Larry L. Guest guest Posted April 11, 2012 Report Share Posted April 11, 2012 So, is this likely to be true for other private insurance companies such as Providence, BCBS, ODS, etc. who have the same policy of "massage is only covered if performed by DC"? Would they be obligated to pay if indeed our LMTs were licensed as CAs? Seems like a wacky loophole to me. If that's what it takes, I guess I'm interested in jumping through that hoop. LMT is not an authorized massage provider for SAIF.Also LMT's are not authorized to deliver modalities such as ultrasound or laser,but a CA is. I just have all LMT's cross licensed as CA's with OBCE and make sure your chart notes show massage was delivered by a licensed CA.. Other carriers may be more flexible, but if you satisfy the big boy in the business, you should be OK with the rest. R Johansen D.C. When I clearly showed that massage was delivered by a CA, my SAIF billing problems went away R Johansen D.C.
