Guest guest
Monday is my restart day. I wanted to start this week, but I hurt myself over the weekend, and I want to give my shoulder a rest. However, I am starting with the eating this week, and some cardio. Last week, I did a real H.I.T.T. workout on the treadmill....holy crap. I love the way my body feels after a good workout. I am sore and proud. deb ________________________________ From: bodyforlifewomensclub2 [mailto:bodyforlifewomensclub2 ] On Behalf Of tresseya Sent: Monday, January 21, 2008 2:31 PM To: bodyforlifewomensclub2 Subject: Hi Ladies As usual, I'm just checkin in! lol Ok, so today at the gym this very handsome guy comes and stands next to me and I'm thinking hum is he going to stand here and watch me. Well he was looking at my BFL success journal that i had on the floor beside me and he told me that one of his friends lost 65 pounds on the program. He was used to seeing him big and when he saw him again he had shrunk. It's to the point now that I really do have to stick with the program because too many people in the gym know that I'm doing it so I have to represent! lol Gym was absolutely packed at 9am, I had to do the machines for my chest and shoulders because the dummbell area was packed. Anyway, I got it done which is the most important thing. Can those of you who started on the 31st believe we are in week 4! Don't give up, around week 7-8 one morning you will wake up and get out your tape measure. You'll wake up saying I'm tired of not seeing any progress maybe I'll just quit and when you measure yourself your eyes will get big as golf balls. You'll shake your head and say that can't be true I haven't lost that many inches overnight. Let me measure again and sure enough you're lost crazy inches and can go out and buy a size or 2 smaller!! It is amazing!

Guest guest
Hi, I'm shorter like you. I, too, am 5'2 " ... I'm usually just a lurker around here, but thought I would share some results with you. I began the 12 weeks at 5'2 " 126 pounds (33% BF). My results seemed slow (well slower than I would have liked), but I lost a steady .5 BF per week. At the end of 12 weeks I dropped 13 pounds, and 7% BF to 26% BF. I was pleased with my results, and so was my husband. He thought my abs looked better than they did when we got married....I think he just has a bad memory . Anyway, that was 12.2 pounds of pure fat! My lean body mass stayed the same (began at 84.42 ended at 83.62), I was shocked by this as my strength quadrupled (I could barely do a push up and met my goal to do 40...I turned 40....Could not do a pull up and ended doing 10!). But, I recently read in, I believe, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle, that it is physiologically impossible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time (one requires a calorie deficit, the other a calorie surplus). Well, I never went to far into the surplus---I stayed in the deficit most of the time. Zig-zagged calories occasionally, but not often. Anyway, I maintained that 26% through summer, and now I'm ready to shoot for my goal of 21%BF. I may try to gain a bit more muscle definition this time around though. That lean body mass concerns me for later in life (osteoporosis, etc). Through it all, my tight size 6 pants almost fell off me, my 4's were most comfortable (I like looser pants), and my size 2 were on, not snug, but not my comfort fit. Hang in there, because we are so short I think the results are slower, but well worth the time and discipline! I would rather be carrying around 29 pounds of fat than 41.5 any day of the week (it looks different!). BTW: I worked out faithfully 5-6 days a week alternating upper-cardio-lower-cardio. Doing the intervals, and switching cardio machines regularly. Good luck and hang in there! Tammy (Oh, and I didn't do the BFL nutrition by the book---often my carbs were much higher than they should have been 40-60%, and my fat much lower 9-20%...so hopefully you can balance the nutrition better.) Guest guest
Oh, good. Glad to hear. I am trying to do the food thing " by the book " though obviously I'm not perfect. I've resorted to protein powder to help get the protein I need, and I'm a vegetarian who's started eating meat (some people suggest the soy burgers, dogs, etc. they are OK on occasion but good lord, I'd hurl trying to eat them daily I think part of my problem is that I've worked out all my life (OK since I was 20 and I'm 45 now), so working out daily isn't anything new for my body. The mix of cardio & strength is, however. For many years, I would go to the gym and do a class (spinning, aerobics, or swimming), and prior to class lift weights. More recently (since I bagged the gym & bought home equipment), I mostly have done cardio only, or days with mixed cardio/weights (two minutes on the Nordic Track, do a set of weights, two more minutes on the NT....). So... the cardio one day/weight the other is new, but possibly less cardio than I was doing before (though I now do intervals training on every cardio day, which I didn't do before -- usually just did a steady pace). Since I started I have worked out 6 days a week. One of those days each week is a 2 - 3 hour cross-country ski. So yep, this is slow. I will, however, keep at it Dana > > > > > > > Hi, I'm shorter like you. I, too, am 5'2 " ... I'm usually just a lurker > around here, but thought I would share some results with you. Guest guest
Hi Ladies, just checking in. I'm still hanging on. I'm in week 6 of this challenge. The beginning of the challenge, I went to the dentist and had to have anethesia for a procedure and I went on an eating binge. I was wanting to eat every hour. I don't know what happened then the next week was PMS. So I had a rocky 4 week start to this challenge but I got back on track last week so I'm ok now. I saw this guy in the gym this morning who has been encouraging me on the program. He fussed at me a few months ago because I was telling him about not sticking with the food portion like I should, well this morning he told me I was looking good!!! Man did i need that. July 16th will make a year since I've been pushing along. I keep telling myself this is what i need to teach me patience. I'll get there when I get there. As long as I get there that's is what matters the most and this is coming from one of the most impatient folks in the world!
