I have a patient with regional pain syndrome in her foot that followed a moderate left toe sprain (stubbed her toe)8 years ago. She now has virtually full involvement of her left foot with swelling redness and extreme skin sensitivity to nearly all types of shoes and even has to have a little tent on her feet at night to keep the blankets off. Does anyone know of anything we can offer this type of patient? Just from some internet searches, I’ve come across mirror box therapy and other such “trickerations” but I’m tempted to try to find her a NMT or some other type of energy medicine chiropractor in Corvallis or Eugene area would be best. Please consider Lymphatic Drainage for your patient. There is a

wonderful lady in Portland who specializes in this and is certified

as a Lymphedema Therapist by the National Lymphedema Network. She

has had several hundreds of hours of study and is exceptional. It

would be worth a consult to see if that is the way to go. Her name

is Pamela Pennington and her office is at 10175 SW Barbur Blvd,

Portland. Her number is .

Good luck.

Hi Don, Suggestions for this would include the NMT and Microcurrent ... you can place pads away from that area and still affect it .... Dr. McMakin has some excellent protocols for that . Annette Simard in Cottage Grove (yes, a bit far from you) is an excellent NMT practitioner. The mirror box theory might be a very good thing to use with the microcurrent. This sounds like RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy). I have used the

830 Nm low energy laser with some success (helped 1 patient a lot

and nada on the other one).

Hello All: Can't help but put my two cents in on this discussion.Complex regional pain syndrome CRPS for short is now the new terminology for RSD.One way to determine if it is truly CRPS is through infrared imaging using a cold water stress testto determine if this is truly CRPS or just edema or inflammation. The state of Colorado for workers compensation cases requires the condition to be evaluated with this technology.Treatment: Cold laser if it is not CRPS. If it is CRPS it will get intensely worse. Massage, homeopathics andlight movement therapy if it doesn't make worse. Dean , D.C.Portland, ORTo: "Don " Cc: oregondcs Sent: Wednesday, May 9, 2012 2:17:27 PMSubject: Re: Regional Pain Syndrome

Don't they call RSD "causalgia" now...? (just hearing a bell ring). But, yes, it sounds like that. (;-)
