Guest guest
I don't have a weight bench either. I've found the floor works nicely, or a Reebok Step if I really want to get fancy. I also know plenty of people who use a sturdy coffee table for a bench substitute. On 8/30/07, littlebit_102000 <no_reply > wrote: > > Good morning ladies. Guest guest
An exercise ball also works well, just buy a puncture resistant one ..here's a few examples: http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/ex/all_exercises.asp (btw, great site for exercise variety especially at home) joni > > Good morning ladies. Guest guest
you can use an exercise ball instead of a bench for some weight exercises and you have to work harder ---- Original Message ---- From: no_reply To: bodyforlifewomensclub2 Subject: Quick question Date: Thu, 30 Aug 2007 15:15:45 -0000 >Good morning ladies. Guest guest
As a lifelong admitted (or committed? LoL!)chocoholic I have always liked Natures Best Isopure LoCarb Chocolate ptotein powder (the best skinny chocolateymilklike even when mixed with water), but best price and similar flavor is Costco's ProRated chocolate. I have never liked MRP's (meal replacement powders) - too glunky - and all the RTD's (ready to drinks) I've tried all have either a tinny or medicinal taste. So I have always stuck to protein powders for their overall cheaper cost and versatility (add to foods or drink alone with a side carb or mix a smoothie). Some thing to keep in mind when selecting a protein powder while reading the label of course(!) is how many grams of protein do you get per serving? Does it list the protein source? Figure out the cost per serving. Look at the calories. How is it sweetened? Low in carbs if any? Any other additives/vitamins etc you dont want in it or dont need in it? Bottom line is taste, so buy small containers at first :-) http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/goalprotein.htm joni > > Good morning ladies. Guest guest
Hi BJ, We were just in Idaho Falls on Business, what a beautiful place. There are a lot of things you can use around the house for weights and benches. Save two 1 gallon milk jugs and fill them with water for weight, they are kind of awkward, but will do until you can get some weights.. I have used my fireplace hearth as a step for stepups and tricep work. You should check out used sporting good stores and craiglist for equipment. Look outside too, do you have stairs nearby? You could do walking lunges up the stairs. Use the couch or chair for bulgarian squats. good luck, -- In bodyforlifewomensclub2 , littlebit_102000 wrote: > > Good morning ladies. Guest guest
Here are a few ideas for working out without weights: http://www.weighttrainersunited.com/getinshape.html http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/displayarticle.php?aid=63 Also, try signing up for Freecycle. Google it, they have one in every major city. I was on it once because i had some mattresses I wanted to give away. They had gym equipment many times. Good luck! Guest guest
> Are veggies counted as a carb portion? In the real world there isnt a fourth food group called 'vegetables', they are all carbohydrates. But the reasoning behind BFL breaking them out of regular carb list is because vegetables in general are very low calorie and mostly lower carb counts too - you'd generally have to eat ALOT to equal say a carb count of brown rice/pasta/etc and in general most people arent that into vegetables. But now if you are going to eat a bag of carrots or a head of caulifower, then perhaps you should use that as your carb portion of your meal ;-) Btw that BFL food list can be found on their website here: http://bodyforlife.com/nutrition/foodlist.asp
Guest guest
Regarding the protein bar question: I eat Zone Perfect all natural meal replacement bars. They taste great and are a really quick easy morning meal. My favorite is the Chocolate Almond Raisin, my husband (who does not like to eat healthy at all) loves the Fudge Graham and the Chocolate Caramel ones. They have a bout 210 calories, 21 carbs (I think) and 15 (or so) protein. So the ratio isn't absolutely perfect, but for me it works. I just figure most of my meals are slightly heavy in either carbs or protein but by the end of the day it evens out! Are veggies counted as a carb portion? I've seen some meal posts that include a protein (such as lean meat) and a veggie, and am now wondering if I was supposed to be counting those as my carb portion. I am also looking for a good protein bar to grab on my way to school. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Guest guest
When I was talking about my meals, I would say a protein and a vege, or a protein and a fruit or milk or something. I worry I don't get enough veges so on BFL I try to stick to the veg sources of carb like sweet potatoes. I eat other vegs that are low carb, but when a hurry a meal is a piece of chicken and a sweet potato portion. My favorite bars are south beach diet bars, about 19 grams of protien, 250 calories and kinda taste like a rice krispy treat. Guest guest
I agree with Sheila, go for the most nutrients withing the carb serving. I take it a step further and eat a 1/2 cup serving of a raw green veggie in at least 3 or 4 of my meals. (usually raw, sometimes steamed) Plain. I now have certain food restrictions, so I lean on; kale red lettuce green lettuce green cabbage red cabbage cucumber parsley beet greens In my " olden days " before I found out about my food sensitivities, I used to include; romaine lettuce celery green onions chard spinach green beans They all are great raw or steamed. When you are fighting the munchies, you can have as much as you want. I would love to find the woman that said she got fat from eating way too many greens M. > > When I was talking about my meals, I would say a protein and a vege, or a > protein and a fruit or milk or something. Guest guest
I thoutht that post was kind of weirt too.  What are the chances of any of us living close enough to work out together?  Rena Dorrell Barton joycomethinthemorn.blogspot.com  BOOKSFORSOLDIERS.COM ________________________________ To: bodyforlifewomensclub2 Sent: Wed, November 11, 2009 7:40:19 AM Subject: Re: Quick Question  This Tyler person, who just joined, is now asking everyone to share locations, body weight, and times when you're available. Harmless? Maybe, but I didn't put that post through. Beware of sharing too much personal info on public fitness forums. Talking meals and workouts is great. Talking about where you workout and what time you'll be there is probably not a good idea. Remember, you're sharing that with the whole creepy internet, not just with the ten of us who post all the time. :-) On Tue, Nov 10, 2009 at 8:55 PM, tyler1247 <tyler1247yahoo (DOT) com> wrote: > Hi, > > Does anyone ever get together from this group and actually work out? > > Thanks. > > >
Guest guest
I missed the " body weight " part. Since people have been quiet on here for so long, I just assumed that Tyler was asking about workouts cause we haven't been talking much. ? could you ask people when they join to have their first post be to tell us about themselves? Tyler? Could you tell us a bit about yourself so we know you are a real person? I hadn't even thought of that when I asked the questions. Truth is I've been a member of this group for a long time and hadn't posted anything in a while and had edited my membership to read posts directly from the site. I just had major surgery and was determined never to be a patient again and thought this would be a great way to get together with people who liked the same program as I did to motivate myself. That's it. I am a 40 year old female who lives in Ga.
