I was reading about these on the exercise tv website the other day. I think they have previews of some of them with the previews of the stuff that is available on demand. I was surfing through it the other day and saw a couple of things that looked really good. I finally convinced DH to switch to cable and come to find out when we package it up with our phone and internet we'll actually save about $40 a month by making the switch. So he ordered it today and in a week and a half someone will actually be out here to switch it over. Once I have On Demand I'll let you know what they are like from actually doing them. Maybe someone else who already has exercise tv can give us a review in the meantime?

Star Trainers Cardio

Anyone heard of this workout? I just saw it at Collage and it looks good, I like all the instructors. I wonder how easy or hard it is....

DESCRIPTION: Five 30-minute workouts, each led by a different "star" instructor - Rob Glick, Gay Gasper, Violet Zaki, Spreen and Kendell Hogan. The cuing is superb; the variety is super-motivating - from basic kickboxing drills to dancy combos. Rob's "Party" program emphasizes choreographed combinations that range from mambos to step kicks. Gay's "Expresso" features back-to- basics aerobic favorites like grapevines, repeaters, shuffles and jacks. Violet's "Kick Butt" segment is non-stop cardio kickboxing (plus a few aerobic-tempo push-ups and squats). 's "Power Within" alternates lower-impact aerobics with higher-impact power moves. Kendell's "Peak Performance" features athlete-style exercises like jogs and basketball shoots. (1)©2007

oh! yes, michelle... we were just kind of talking about these --

the topic started with 'exercise tv' and video workouts on demand

(on cable tv). i had noticed a while ago that i could get these

'exercise tv' dvds from my online rental place. (ie: the star

trainers workouts).

they do sound good, but i have no idea what the difficulty level is.

normally tv workouts are far from advanced, so im expecting more

of a fun intermediate workout at best. i have these at the top of

my rental queue though, so hopefully i will get them soon and can

let you know.

hmm my daughter has netflix so I'll have her get it for me so I can try it and see if I like it. I agree, most things from TV are just not advanced enough. I see Austin every morning on her show and I think about how I use to do workout with her all the time. I've came a long way since then lol

I do Austin's Abs workout still! I like the tape. It's "Hit the Spot Abs"

oh I think a lot of her ab work is good. I also have her yoga essentials workouts that I wouldn't trade for anything. Her cardio is just so mixed up on her show, its like she thinks it up as she goes.

Weren't these the ones that someone reviewed awhile back and that they were really easy, or no?

I'm not sure on how much of a review I gave, but I did 2 of the workouts from that DVD, Violets and Gay G. and they were too easy for me, but then I'm use to doing Cathe.

Anyway, I sort of feel silly for making such an

impulsive with money! LOL!

That said, since I like to add on and make up my own

routines at times, I think I will get good use out of

these!

Hi!

I think said they were too easy - but she is

bionic and I'm not :)- so I think they may be okay for

me! I did do Violet's workout " on demand " and it was

pretty decent and I had some DOMS in my legs from it.

Oh, speaking of DOMS, I think I'm gonna be in trouble

once I go back to circuits/AWT - I'm pretty sore from

the TLT workout I did yesterday. I'm thinking it is

the change up from doing P90X all these months to

going back to AWT/Circuit.

both of these workouts are thumbs down for me, personally. im interested in what others think of this dvd. there are 3 other routines on the disc, so hopefully i like at least one of them.

I thought the combos were fun, but just not hard at all, at least for me. I got this DVD from netflix from my DD and I'm really glad because I saw it at the store and almost bought it.

I like to have lighter workout days, but I already have plenty and have no desire to buy this one.

You got a lot of workout in. Between walking the dog and the 2 cardio routines, you did great.

You've really picked it up since you were sick! :)

Hi Carolyn,

On an impulse, and due to & Noble's 3 for 2

sale I picked up all the Star Trainers! I am thinking

after P90X, and a week of T-Tapp, of doing a rotation

of these picking a cardio, strength and ab section

from each DVD. Stay tuned! :)

ok, so i did two more segments of star trainers cardio this

evening.

first was violet's... i was really looking forward to some

kickboxing. yes, this workout had some kicks in it (front kicks,

back kicks and even some crescent kicks at the beginning) but

alot of the workout was bootcamp stuff... lots of squats and

lunges (plus pulses), plies, pushups, mountain climbers, jacks,

bouncing and a bit of jogging. there were no punches, but some

blocks instead, and no roundhouses or side kicks. honestly i

didnt really like the workout that much... it wasnt what i was

expecting. and, like all bootcamp oriented workouts, i found it

to be hard! LOL.

next was kendall's and it started out like a classic aerobics

routine and was lower in intensity. so, i thought that i would

like it better... and who can resist kendall's personality! but

before i knew it, he too was doing lots of squats and lunges with

added knee-up. normally this wouldnt bother me but after all of

the bootcamp in violet's workout, i was looking more for a floor

aerobics routine. while the choreo of kendall's workout wasnt

hard, i thought that the order of exercises in the combos was

awkward and he 'took it from the top' ALOT! i ran out of time

and actually did only 19 mins of this 32 min workout, and i didnt

mind stopping early...lol.

with both routines, i still ended up burning 315 cals in 51 mins,

so that was good.... add that to the 332 i burned in my 60 min

walk this morning and i ended up with a good cardio day! but,

im still not impressed with the star trainers cardio dvd :/ i

will finish it off this week by doing kim spreen's segment, but

wont buy the dvd. like i said before, this is just my opinion

and someone else might really like the workouts on this disc.

in sticking with this 'tv exercise show' theme i have going, i

will also be doing some of gilad's total body sculpting, more of

star trainers strength and some caribbean workouts (kickboxing

and hi/lo) this week.

:*carolyn.

I was hoping to be able to do that - but the form says

the stores will only take unopened DVD, CD and

VHS....how would I know it was defective though if I

didn't open it??!! I'm going to the PO today anyway,

but I would like to try the in-store return to see

what it gets me. I'd just be happy to exchange it for

a copy of the same thing!
