I'm a new member here but have been reading posts for sometime and

studying up on the Body For Life program. I want to start a challenge

but I'm a bit confused by the various books. Which would you suggest I

use/purchase? I've seen:

Body For Life

Eating For Life (have this one)

Champions For Life (right title? on waiting list at library)

Strength For Life (have this one)

Is Strength For Life by a newer version or considered

completely different? I'm currently doing the Base Camp 12 day phase

from this book and then would move into the 12 week program. Should I

stick with this one or check out the original Body For Life version.

Thanks.

Body for Life is the Bible of BfL. Everything you need is in that book.

Champions for Life is just an updated version. It's got good success

stories. Wait for it, but you don't need to buy it.

Eating for Life is a recipe book.

Strength for Life, I have, but I haven't read it yet, but it is Bill's

brother and not BfL. I think it is complementary though.

Body for Life, Eating for Life and Champions for Life are all basically the

same plan and all good.

Strength for Life is a totally new plan, but the principles are the same and

the program is really sound. The mad scientist in me TOTALLY wants you to do

the new Strength for Life version and keep us posted on your progress and

your thoughts. It's so new that nobody here has done 12 weeks of it yet. You

would be blazing new frontiers, boldly going where no BFLer has gone before,

discovering new life forms and new civilizations... oh, no wait, that's Star

Trek.

Anyway, I think you should do it! :-)

Skwigg - So good to hear from you because YOUR BLOG is the reason I

bought 's book. I'm on Day 3 of the 12 day base camp and so far

have loved it. I'll stick to Strength For Life for a few weeks and

keep the forum updated on how it goes.

I'm a lifetime Weight Watchers member (lost 40 pounds)who struggles

with maintainig my goal weight. I'm currently about 10 pounds over my

goal. I know the big reason is because I eat junky processed foods and

end up starving and craving more food.

Even on Day 3 of Strength For Life I have found almost all cravings for

that kind of food have gone away. His food list on Base Camp is simple

unprocessed foods but it eliminates bread and dairy (just for the first

12 days). He does allow fruit which has been very helpful for my sweet

tooth.

I'll compare the 12 week food list between SFL and my Eating For Life

book and see what differences I notice.

I can't wait to hear what you think. SFL looks really good, especially the

" Base Camp " and the " Week 13 and Beyond " sections. So, you get off to the

right start and then you know exactly what to do when your challenge is

over. What a concept. :-) Keep us posted.

I am so glad you posted this question! I went to the Strength for

Life website

www.mystrengthforlife.com/

and there was a free intro download for the book. It sounds amazing

and I cannot wait to read it.

For those who've read Strength for Life, do you recommend it to me? I just read

the intro on the site. I am a Christian and have no interest in the

spiritual/New Age aspect of the book. I am in week 6 and I'm pleased with my

progress. I may be satisfied with my accomplishment by week 12 or may want to do

a few more weeks or even another whole challenge. I'm very motivated now, but I

am worried that once I'm done with this 12 weeks, I'll get bored. I want to know

how to eat and train to maintain my results and stay ahead of the aging process.

Does the last section of the book address my needs? Thanks in advance for any

advice.

Hi Mel, I'm a Xian too have found the " spiritual " aspect to be helpful. We are

to " be

transformed by the renewing of our minds. " and while I'm sure this Bible passage

wasn't

referring specifically to bodybuilding, the truth still applies. Most of us

really do need our

mindsets renewed in order to change from unhealthy to healthy, and each trainer

has

his/her own way of approaching that. So even if certain aspects of our

philosophies clash

with those of our trainers, we can still find truth in it and use it for good.

And yes, the

book does address week 13 and beyond.

Congrats on your progress and keep it up!
