Guest guest
What percentage of patients who present with nystagmus and vertigo as one of the primary complaints require nutrition / dietary changes before they see a significant change in their symptoms and if so, what type of dietary changes had the greatest effect? Thanks in advance for your response. Eileen Machida, DC
Guest guest
Eileen: I'm sure dietary factors can have some influence on nystagmus and vertigo, but I would be looking for more serious physiologic, pathologic or congenital causes. Wikipedia gives a good breakdown on the causes of nystagmus and vertigo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nystagmus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertigo Lyndon McGill, D.C. Guest guest
Eileen, In working with cranials, vertigo seems to present as an inferior parietal, usually ipsilateral. the trace minerals will most likely be a deficiency with that as it will be at the ligamentous level where holding is deficient. Don't know that a nutritional replacement will change the vertigo. Dehydration will most likely be present but that is often secondary to a mineral deficiency preventing full utilization of water consumption. But it is all more of an indirect cause than a direct one. skSunny Kierstyn, RN DC Fibromyalgia Care Center of Oregon 2677 Willakenzie Road, 7CEugene, Oregon, 97401541- 654-0850; Fx; 541- 654-0834www.drsunnykierstyn.com To: oregondcs From: emblacklab6@...Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2012 11:35:51 -0700Subject: Vertigo and nystagmus presentations What percentage of patients who present with nystagmus and vertigo as one of the primary complaints require nutrition / dietary changes before they see a significant change in their symptoms and if so, what type of dietary changes had the greatest effect? Guest guest
The nystagmas, with an ipsilateral inferior parietal, will most likely be due to the traction of the nasal bone laterally, ipsilateral to the displaced parietal. Opening that naso-orbital medial joint hs been known to stop the nystagmus ..... assuming, of course, that it is a traumatic nystagmus and not a congenital one. skSunny Kierstyn, RN DC Fibromyalgia Care Center of Oregon 2677 Willakenzie Road, 7CEugene, Oregon, 97401541- 654-0850; Fx; 541- 654-0834www.drsunnykierstyn.com To: oregondcs From: twogems@...Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2012 12:34:50 -0700Subject: Re: Vertigo and nystagmus presentations Eileen: I'm sure dietary factors can have some influence on nystagmus and vertigo, but I would be looking for more serious physiologic, pathologic or congenital causes.
