Guest guest
this is really friday's workout, but im just getting around to posting it now. ::sigh:: too much to do, not enough time!! friday's workout didnt get started until 6pm, but with daylight savings time, it was still light out and actually kind of warm. i walked with chinook for 60 mins. it is so hard to know how to dress for an outdoor workout this time of year... i was bundled up and drenched in sweat when i got home. had a nice walk though and was glad that i didnt have to wear my face mask against cold and wind. after that i did gin miller's 'simply circuit' for 64 mins. this is mainly a cardio workout, with some weight training for the upper body here and there. the cardio is done on the floor and on the step. basic choreography, no difficult steps to learn... but this is a challenging workout because of the high impact involved in the cardio. i do not like to do high impact without my rebounder, so i had to modify. luckily for me, gin demonstrates 3 levels of modification for *everything*. so this workout is do-able by pretty much all fitness levels. there is just gin by herself... no background exercisers. the music is just a steady electronic beat kind of stuff which she speeds up for the floor aerobics and slows down a bit for the step aerobics. there is a bit of stretching interspersed throughout, but certainly not enough for my tastes (which is nothing new). there is also a core segment which consists of the 'teaser' or 'boat pose' along with planks, done on the step. gin is a good instructor... funny at times and she demonstrates everything well. she does come off as a bit condescending at times though as she often says 'stay here! stay here! just do this move while i show you the next one!' as she holds her hands out in front of her. honestly the moves just arent hard enough to warrant this... but ive realized that this is part of her teaching style because she does this in some of her other workouts too. i wish that she wouldnt, but it is pretty much the only criticism that i have of her. happily, these workouts made me surpass my daily calorie burn goal... i ended up at 124 minutes and 728 cals burned! whoo-hoo!!! :*carolyn.
