Guest guest
I love this post. These are the tough questions we need to ask ourselves and answer honestly and with affirmation. Sometimes I hate goal setting for fear of failing or having to be tied down to it. I'm working on cutting my portions in half, and kept that in mind while cooking last night. Not only am I saving calories and fat, it's also cheaper to eat less! I need to buy a scale, perhaps this weekend Hugs,
Guest guest
Thanks ! I'll be sharing it with my Wednesday group tomorrow and am subbing for a leader on Saturday for 3 meetings and will issue the same challenge to all of them too. I'm introducing the program to a new At Work meeting Friday and if there's time will also issue the challenge but might wait until next week for them. I know what you mean about goal setting too. Putting it really out there means a commitment of some kind and that can mean not making the goal and risking disappointment and frustration. Not committing though means risking not moving anywhere and being frustrated where you are. I guess it comes down to pick your frustration. If you choose to go with a goal though, make a plan to back it up. Make it measurable, realistic for you right now and be sure you really want it. A plan is your map to getting to the goal. You might still get lost along the way (even MapQuest isn't perfect) but you will get there at some point. You are doing super awesome with cutting portions too! Are you any less satisfied?? I'm assuming no since most of us eat waaaaaay too big of portions anyway and because you sound excited about this. Make your food super wonderful and enjoyable, a full sensory experience, just eat less of it and you'll still, hopefully be satisfied. On scales: I have one in my house only because WW gave me one to travel with for my At Work meetings. I was raised by a weight-obsessed mother and have always had a fear/hatred of scales ever since. I weighed in once a week at WW meetings when I attended them and that was enough for me. It was also and is still very important for me to weigh once a week though to keep myself in check. Some people can go once a month, I need weekly feedback most of the time. Having one in my house was terrifying at first. I was afraid I'd become my mother and worse yet, inflict it on my kids too. I'm pleased to say that hasn't happened at all. I only take it out once a week to weigh and the rest of the time it is in its wheeled case. I don't think about it most of the time and am not usually even slightly tempted to weigh again during the week. I hope you can have such a peaceful coexistence with one if you choose to get one too. Guest guest
Hi !I really like this idea! Ideally, I'd like to maintain through the holidays - I'm pretty light so even a few pounds is a large percentage increase. Worse case scenario, I can live with gaining 3 lbs. I think I'll weigh in tomorrow to get my "weight" and then try to stay right at it for the weigh in in January. I know it can be done - and you can still enjoy treats - just in moderation. Now, to put that into practice. Also, any weight gained during the holidays must be off by Valentine's Day! I have handled the Halloween candy okay the last couple of days - one small snack back of M & M's seems to satisfy well enough if I take my time with them and it is only "psychological" if I want more. Thanks for putting this idea out there!! :)Donna
