Guest guest
Wow, my hat is off to you for doing all that hard work! Anymore, I let my fingers do the walking (anyone old enough to remember that slogan?) through the yellow pages! LOL! It really is great that you and DH have such a good relationship to be able to work together on a project! That is awesome. I remember DH and I tried to lay a floor down once - the project failed but we had a lot of fun laughing about it once we realized we were in over our heads! LOL!Donna Subject: Roof bootcamp, lolTo: exercisevideos Date: Thursday, September 25, 2008, 2:34 PM Hi All, Just wanted to check in to let you know how things are going! I've been reading posts on digest and everyone is doing great! Lemme see if I can post some quick comments based on memory... - glad you're starting to feel better and am looking forward to hearing about your workouts when you get back to them.Carolyn - awesome job on your Ripped rotation, keep up the great work! Sounds like Chinook has been getting some great walks. Thanks for the feedback about protein shakes, I have more to comment on that later...Cheryl - great job on Ripped, too - hope you feel better soon with the allergies, etc.Darcy - you've been doing super awesome with your workouts, and I've really enjoyed hearing about them! Hope your son feels better soon!Donna - glad your back is doing so much better with the chiro visits, and glad you've been able to make use of your tmill and bike. You are really moving on the tmill! Your walk speeds are my "jog" speeds, LOL. Glad you are impressed by my roofing workout, but I don't know that I recommend it to others yet, heh. - good luck with Ropesport! It would be such a great accomplishment if you are able to follow it with the rope! I know when I go back to those workouts in the future I won't be using the rope to start, and maybe not at all, lol. I would spend the whole workout tripping over it and ending up frustrated with no workout at all. Am enjoying hearing about your Cathe workouts, too. Oh, and ChaLEAN sounds great - thanks for sharing the info!Kassia - glad to see you again! Big congrats on your new home, and glad you're back! Great job with the 10 min trainer stuff. - where's ? Did I miss a post? Hope all is well and hope to hear from you soon. I always enjoy reading about your workouts!Okay, sorry if I forgot anyone, I just wanted to pop in.The roof is going well - slow and steady. The weather has been excellent for the project, not a drop of rain since we started. We worked on the roof all weekend, about 12+ hours each day. We work as soon as DH gets home from work, until dark, which is usually about 3 hours or so. DH took Tuesday off, so that was another 12 hour shift, too. I haven't been as sore as I expected, and not nearly as bad as the day after tearing off shingles last week. We have about half the roof re-shingled at this point, and still have to tear shingles off the steeper part. We're thinking the rest will go faster, as there will be less cutting for the shingles when we put them back on. My right hand is a still a bit sore from gripping the hammer on Tuesday, as I spent most of the day nailing down shingles. If only I had enough hand-eye cooridination to switch out with my left hand I could have had an excellent balanced upper body workout, lol! Last night was my first break from roofing, as DH got home later than expected. He didn't have much daylight left, and spent most of the time trying to decide how to lay the shingles in the valley of the roof, and by the time he decided how to do that, it was dark so I wasn't up there at all yesterday.I don't think I'll be able to do any Ripped workouts this week, as I'd hoped. But, I have been sticking to my cardio. On Mon, I did 35 min using the Crosstrain reverse program, followed by some ab work and back extensions on the swiss ball. Tuesday was all day on the roof - hammering - so I think I got in my exercise for that day! Wednesday I did 45 min using the hill program on the tmill. The cardio seems to be helping me loosen up, and lessening my soreness from roof bootcamp, lol. I haven't decided about today yet. I might try to tear off some of the lower shingles left on the roof before DH gets home, or might do some cardio. Or might just rest. I think DH is taking tomorrow off from work, so that means another 12 hours on the roof and plenty of activity. I'm really hoping we're done by Saturday, but I think DH is thinking Monday. We're going to lose a bunch of time on Sunday, as we're meeting the in-laws for dinner and with travel and all that will prob take 5-6 hours. So maybe we will be done on Sat and not have to worry about it anymore. I can hope!Okay, sorry to ramble about roofing. I can't wait to get back to my video workouts, and back to chatting with the group!Sara
Guest guest
Wow, Sara!! Amazing roof work you're doing! And I thought I was quite the handy gal stripping off wallpaper borders today (without DH around I normally don't even attempt to do anything resembling handy work beyond changing a light bulb). And you're even getting in cardio workouts too, you are amazing!!
Guest guest
I remember the walking fingers! DH and I were talking about how a neighboring city built a 2nd high school in the last few years and were amazed they needed another one so "soon" because we remembered when they first built the one they were already using. Then I realized that was 18 years ago!! Ugh, I'm getting old! :-) DH and I do a lot of projects together and most of the time it ends up well between us. I hear wallpapering can really split a couple though so I'm avoiding doing anything beyond borders!! (Actually I'm avoiding it because it seems like too much work to me and I'm not that into decorating anyway.) I love your story, Donna about the floor! The work I'm having done this week is mostly things we would have tried on our own eventually (beyond the roof work, DH had already tried various patches) had we the time and DH the stamina but my dad offered to pay for the work as an anniversary gift (for the next 10 years he jokes) so we're happy to let others who are much faster (because they actually know how to do it) and much better at it do these things for us. I have to admit, I like doing things myself and respect that DH really wants to do things for himself but sometimes a professional just makes all the difference between a patch and a real fix or a good enough job and a wow, that's much better than I'd thought it would job. The wallpaper borders and painting we can handle ourselves pretty easily with good results so we'll do that but I'm really glad someone else is putting in the floors, a really obnoxious ceiling fan and other bigger jobs. Guest guest
I have to hand it to you too. I can't even be in the same house as DH when he's doing something. He can't even rip up a piece of carpet without biting my head off. I'd much rather hire someone to do just about anything and not have to listen to his ranting. He's starting to look at things my way. LOL Tami ---- nancydewolf wrote: > I remember the walking fingers! Guest guest
Just wanted to say way to go, Sara! I so suck at real life bootcamp. I just get sore and tired and cranky. Give me a dvd or a treadmill any day! I was waving at you across the lake – glad to hear you had a good vacation. Think I’m going to take two of my kids down to the beach today, just to walk around and look for cool stones, etc. Other kid is camping with the Scouts (hi Kassia!) this weekend. I will get on the tmill for a couple of walks today, but that’s about it. From: exercisevideos [mailto:exercisevideos ] On Behalf Of Darcy Ledman Good to hear from you Sara, and ecellent job on the roofing! Impressive. My dh would love you
