Shar pei + lab????? Shar peis are the wrinkly dogs right (the ones with tons of extra skin)? If I've got that right it sounds seriously weird... I'd love to see a picture sometime just to satisfy my curiosity about how that would look! :-)

I had a cat that was part chocolate point Siamese and part grey striped tabby. She was funny looking! Siamese head, striped tabby tail, white Siamese stomach and tabby striped feet and her back fur was an interesting mixture of both. I always called her one of the weirdest looking cats because people who knew cats would look at her and just wonder what on earth she was (then she'd start talking and they'd figure out the Siamese part really quickly).

Re: FIRM August, week 1

Hi , Thanks! I'm really excited about my August rotation (as if I haven't said that a million times now). I enjoyed reading about your Jari week workouts, too! Great job! I'm sure you'll have good stuff to report for August as well.We have two shar pei mixes (shar pei + lab, maybe?) and one shar pei. I volunteer for a shar pei rescue and the purebred was one of our foster dogs. Since he gets along really well with our bossy female (who's a brat) we ended up adopting him. :) I'm contemplating volunteering at the local humane society one of these days, too. They just moved, and are REALLY close to my house now, so I kind of think it's fate. Might have to wait until next spring when I'm done taking classes to do something regularly for them, but for now I give them all of our aluminum cans and donate things to their thift store. Thanks for asking! Sara>> Nice workout plans Sara!!> > What kind of dogs do you have? Or did you say and I missed it....> > > > ~**~> > >

I should add I got my cat from a rescue organization! She was 7 years old and was absolutely awesome (but loud)!

Hi

Chiming in, I have a Shar Pei mix, too. I will really try to send a picture. She isn't wrinkled at all - she has a thick nose (like a Shar Pei, but not as thick as a purebred) and the small triangular ears of a Shar Pei. her coloring - a brownish-red could be from her Shar Pei heritage or it could be from her other backgrounds - I tend to think she has lab/golden and/or shepherd in her. her tail is very shepherd-y and she has black hairs mingled into her coat and tail, like a shepherd.

From what I understand, full grown adult Shar Peis aren't all that wrinkled, the puppies are very wrinkled though!

I really will post a picture! :)

So cool we have so many animal lovers - I have 2 German shorthair pointers. I compete in agility and just found out that my older one is the #2 GSP in the Country for AKC agility - this means in Dec I go to Long Beach to compete in the invitationals (the top 5 in each breed are invited). I am so excited and I am so going to drop this weight as Animal Planet Films the event!!Off to buy Tony Horton 10 min soln. so I have NO excuse to workout every day!!Judy S in MD Re: FIRM August, week 1

Okay, I gotta get to my appt with Blanks, but had to chime in

on the dog post, lol. Will catch up on the rest and report my

workouts later...

Judy - that's so great about your dog! I love watching agility -

please be sure to tell us when you'll be on TV so I can set my

DVR! :) I'm glad there are so many animal lovers, too! One of the

reasons I de-lurked when I did - and I'm so glad that I did! :)

Donna - can't wait to see a pic of Shenan! You're right, generally

the adult shar pei don't have as many wrinkles, but it varies.

- LOL, yeah my pups are unique looking, for sure! There is

actually a coat type for shar pei called " bearcoat " that resembles a

chow chow, and my two mixes are furry like that. We actually see A

LOT of shar pei-lab mixes in rescue, prob because the labs are so

common and unfortunately so many people still do not get their pets

fixed. I'll post some pics of my pups for sure, but for now you can

look here, if you like:

http://sharpeisavers.com/availabledogs.htm

Bruce is a very good example of a lab-shar pei, y is likely a

german shepherd-shar pei, and Ringo may be a boxer-shar pei. Champ

might have some lab in him as well. As you can see, they come in

many shapes, colors, and coats! Lizzie Bee has the bearcoat hair I

mentioned, and my two mixes definetly resemble her! Also, we get a

lot of pure bred, but poorly bred dogs so their looks can really

vary. :) The happy endings page shows more of our dogs, and the

amount of wrinkles really varies, too.

I loved Cookie - I've never seen a coat like that!

Yes, Judy, tell us when you'll be on TV! Congrats to you and your puppy! I love watching agility. I often thought Shenan would have been good at it b/c she is very agile and she does like to please her people!Donna
