Guest guest
Definitely ask for OT assessment, but probably best to ensure someone with experience of autism, not all paediatric OTs are experienced in sensory integration for example. Poor muscle tone/hypertonia will be an obstacle to education so Paed should refer but it may be worth asking about qualifications in sensory integration if you want that assessed also. But we did pay for initial independant assessment first. The brushing did help initially, the stuff in the sensory room was not focused enough for Louis, so we then looked at doing something privately and started with the " Brushing Man " , Bob in Windsor, as recommended by others on this list. Since then many of his sensory issues have gone (could be the brushing man or chelation or HBOT or all three) and his handwritting is legible although not cursive and he can cut with scissors. He still prefers not to write, but that is more about whether he is interested in the topic. > > Kay. > > > Weak muscle strength > > > Hi all > > has low muscle tone in his arms, what do I ask the pead for ? > an OT assessment and what do I say ?
