Guest guest
has been having VitD3 for about 2yrs now, maybe more, but only recently swapped to Mandi's brand. Not noticed any cognitive changes at all, but huge physical gains, started growing again, so gaining some height, teeth came in after about 8weeks starting. We haven't gone to the much higher doses though, so maybe with gradual increasing we could see some cognitive gains. Sleep completely unchanged. Guest guest
I've been giving Edith 3,000 IU of Vitamin D daily for about three weeks. She's on good form. Guest guest
Yeah, really interesting. I’ve always told people I have the skin of a ginger person (lots of gingers in my family including Tom) and I stay out of the sun too. The trouble is I over zealously kept Tom out of the sun when he was little and lagged him in chemical suntan cream before people like the ones on this list enlightened me. Tom’s only 5, where do I find out the top level of Vit D I should be aiming at for him? there’s no hurry I’ve just upped him to 1,500 and he’s having a reaction again, bless him – although I can see further improvements too. NEGS = poor sleep AGAIN, accidents (poo and wee), v. obsessive. POS’s = improved language, spoke about the past for the first time yesterday. When I asked if the cut on his head was hurting he said ‘yes, fell down’ which I find mind blowing. He keeps saying ‘together’ type things like ‘mummy and Tom making letters?’ (his fave obsessive activity which he definitely prefers to do ALONE normally) and also ‘mummy and Tom love ’ (my niece) SARA -----Original Message----- From: Autism-Biomedical-Europe [mailto:Autism-Biomedical-Europe ] On Behalf Of Mum231ASD@... Guest guest
Question about Vit D3 - can I check which brand/form you are all using? >>I have used a whole bunch, Twinlabs Allergy A (10,000ius) & D (400ius) and LEF 1,000ius D3 caps to build up, Yasko 1,000ius tabs (easy to cut and crush) for me but now we have reached higher doses I am using the stuff recommends which is Liqui-D3 by Rx Vitamins. Rx Vitamins usually only supply medics but helped me obtain it for MM so her patients can access it. At 2,000iu's per drop its probably not the best stuff to start with but if and when you get to higher dosing it makes things very easy and cost efficient - there are 900 doses of 2,000ius in a bottle with a long sell by date, potentially 2.5 years supply in a bottle!. If you take it straight it tastes like Olive Oil, if you mix it in food or drink there is really no taste at all. I used to keep the LEF one at MM but they changed formula to include Soy and Corn, that being a no no for so many and a chance people might purchase without noticing and kids regressing so I stopped keeping it. Mandi x PS I stayed with the Tommeys recently and Jon had been using a 10,000iu tab for , I forget the brand but I'll ask Jon for those that plan to go mega dosing, they were in a tub and I thought Lamberts but haven't been able to find them on line so I probably remembered wrong. Guest guest
I stopped the D3 this week due to no sleep, a week of being kept awake until 3 or 4 am then Sunday awake ALL night with no sleep at all. He was very happy though !!!! I did escalate the dose to 6,000 within days rather than weeks, but thought his behaviour would be worse on low dosing (he was on epam for leg cramps for a few years and low doses had him bouncing off the ceiling- chelation got rid of the cramps fortunately). I really want to try the D3 longer term but need some sleep especially as preparing for Tribunal at present !! The D3 was the only change. I must say it was great to have him so happy but not shrieking with happiness all night. Guest guest
Hi Mandi, Thanks for the information. Will keep the liqui-D3 in mind for the high dosing as at the moment son is getting 500iu in the Kirkman CLO and like you say a drop of 2000iu would be a big jump. Appreciate it if you get to find other alternatives. emily xx > > > In a message dated 10/01/2008 11:07:54 GMT Standard Time, > emilyscorer@... writes: > > Question about Vit D3 - can I check which brand/form you are all using? > > > > >>I have used a whole bunch, Twinlabs Allergy A (10,000ius) & D (400ius) and > LEF 1,000ius D3 caps to build up, Yasko 1,000ius tabs (easy to cut and > crush) for me but now we have reached higher doses I am using the stuff Jean > recommends which is Liqui-D3 by Rx Vitamins. > > Rx Vitamins usually only supply medics but helped me obtain it for MM > so her patients can access it. Guest guest
dont know why kids are not sleeping but in the summer when there is loads of vit d about people go to bed later dont they and arent tired. but in the winter less vitamin D, people are generally more tired earlier and go to bed earlier cos its dark Copied this off the internet " Vitamin D levels are inversely related to those of melatonin, another mood-regulating hormone. Melatonin helps modulate your circadian rhythms, with darkness triggering melatonin secretion by the pineal gland within your brain, bringing you down gently at night for sleep. Insomnia, mood swings and food cravings are influenced by melatonin. Sunlight shuts melatonin production off, while triggering release of vitamin D - that's why doctors recommend getting outdoors as a remedy for jet lag. " Not sure what to make of that apart from keeping your kids in a really dark room no lamps on etc..to encourage melatonin production. Guest guest
Doesn’t work if they’re running up and down the room manically at 100 mph repeating things even more manically or jumping on the bed you’re lying on, or crying inconsolably about nothing in particular or headbutting you constantly.
