Hi,

Today I did 10 Min Solution Pilates w/ Lara Hudson. I did the whole workout and felt that I got a balanced total body workout in. My back is hanging in there, fortunately none of the soreness from yesterday was back at all (woo hoo!) It does feel a tad "unstable" if that makes sense, and I'm wondering if it is b/c I'm moving to a "new level" in terms of my recovery - perhaps something that was locked in place is now being freed up and that is causing a certain level of instability? I dunno - this body stuff is fascinating, although quite mysterious. I also noticed today that I can't do a full downward dog anymore w/ out feeling a pull through my lower back (not in a good way) - so I did that posture in a modified form (heels up, not down to the ground) and that felt fine. I was thinking this morning that if I wasn't an exerciser I would probably consider my back "cured" b/c daily life doesn't bother it at all

(for the most part - like anyone else, if I overdo something or sit in a weird position I'll feel it) but, b/c I exercise I notice things (lke downward dog, etc.) that I can't do. Oh well, it is a journey, right?

I also got my push-ups in this morning. I decided that I'm going to take the 6 week challenge and make it an 18 week challenge - I'm going to do each "day" 3X per week before I move to the next day. It seems that some of the days increase by leaps and bounds. So I'm doing column # 2, day 1, week 1 three times this week, then next week I'll do column # 2, day 2, week 1 three times, etc. I think that will enable me to progress at a reasonable pace. I'm also doing pull-downs w/ my resistance band (hanging from the ceiling) in between the push-ups and that is working well.

I still have to get my stairs in today - I have planned to do at least 5 flights, if I feel stronger, I'll go for 7.

Oh, my best friend from college sent me a $50 Amazon card fo rmy b'day, I'm thinking of trying one of these titles:

http://www.amazon.com/Fitness-Fix-Intermediate-DVD/dp/B000P7V5MU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & s=dvd & qid=1225813597 & sr=8-1

They sound like they are good for rehab....

Hope everyone has a great day!

fitness fix titles seem to be a hit over at VF even some on wish lists forever which probably means nobody is willing it give it up LOL. they are suppose to be like rehabilitation in addition of regular exercises? at least that is the impression i got visiting the site b/c the instructor apparently had a bad accident or injury and had to rehab her way back to health.under frequently bought together looks like you can get intermediate, advanced, and a core disc for only $58 and change. that is a pretty good package. lets us know what you pick!!! i almost caved and bought a used copy of tracey staehle's strikezone. still wanting to but at least waiting until bills are paid and i got a little more early xmas shopping done. that and christi's humble beginnings have been the only dvds i still really want right now. kassia

These workouts look interesting, Donna! It will be curious to see her instruct from the standpoint of having been in 2 car accidents. Are you going to get the sports conditioning one too?Thank goodness for gift certificates!

Hi,

I was thinking I'd either get the Beginner and Intermediate to start with. I think this is what I'll spend my gift card on since I don't think I can find these easily elsewhere! I figure they will be good as I expand into doing more strength training.

Speaking of which, I think I'm going to hit the stairs - it is gettting to mid-afternoon slump time.

Take care,

Donna

you are in an office building then the ones at work would be alot

Hi Donna!

I have that pilates video. I think I will do it again sometime soon... I have so many that I've done a few times or once and that's it...

Your insights into your back/body are so interesting to read! I feel like I'm on the journey with you and it is making me more aware of my own body too.

I LOVE your pushups challenge idea and I think I'm going to jump on it! It seems I get through whatever day I'm on but it is sooo much more challenging than the day before that I feel intimidated each time to do them. With your idea I can build up my strength more gradually and more completely and it will be much better for me (and I'll be more likely to follow through). Thank you so much for posting this! I think I'm somewhere in week 2 so next time I do them (probably Monday) I'll start with week 2 day 1 probably and do that for the week. This makes me feel so much better!

How do you have the resistance band hung from the ceiling? I'd love to do pull-ups too and have been eyeing some of those pull-up bar contraptions at Target and elsewhere lately.

You've got a really nice friend!! I sent my best friend a card for her birthday (but no gift card included). If she's lucky, I'll treat her to lunch next week too! ;-)
