Guest guest
There was a woman shown in one of the pictures too!!! And um.. okay, no. LOL I want to be slim, sexy, sculpted and toned. And flexible. I am a mom and realistically I " lift weights " -- toting grocery bags full of food and 32 pounds of wriggling kidlet helps -- a bunch. Plus I work as a caregiver and often I help elderly to their feet. Or I am lifting/rolling them on their bed to change out chubs. At any rate, I AM BY NO MEANS SAYING THAT lifting weights is not important. The training post already showed me otherwise. It will be some time before I add weights (over 4 pounds) to my regimen for now. Please check out this site -- I hate hate hate infomercials -- but this looked like it might be paced that not only could I keep up but have good results too. http://3daymelt.com/default.asp There are just so many choices out there -- it gets frustrating and confusing. Guest guest
heather, do what feels and looks right for you:) it is true that the info and choices are overwhelming and confusing!! there are some muscular looking people in the yoga world who do not lift weights...using your own body weight is very effective way to be toned--it is free and there at all times! stacey > > There was a woman shown in one of the pictures too!!! (i just bought myself the 8lb ball for xmas and havent used it at all yet). i like that the workouts are all on one dvd, and it comes with a 2lb ball. 4 workouts on the dvd (one is 10 mins) and check out the price for the kit... $15 !! plus there is a motivational cd. wow, that sounds good! however (and sadly there is always a 'but' isnt there?): - i dont know how long the other workouts are - i would really like to see some clips of these workouts before buying. - sure, mitch gaylord is an olympian but can he instruct a workout video?? there are plenty of professional video instructors that put out quality workouts... i dont know if i would take a chance on an unknown. - i also need to see reviews from real people who have bought it - of course the weight/inch loss claims are typical infomerical bull and are to be ignored. - shipping is $15, which is inflated in order to make the price of the kit lower. a misleading business practice which kind of turns me off. but if the clips of the workouts, and mitch, look good, the ball is of good quality and there is a reasonable amount of workout footage, then $30 could be a good price. > There are just so many choices out there -- it gets frustrating and > confusing. i know :/ it is easy to end up with some lousy workouts. and it is a real shame because there are some really great ones available. it also takes some trial and error to find things that you enjoy doing and that are effective for you (everyone is different). hopefully we can help you through that, a bit, and you can help all of us too. :*carolyn. PS: i just google'd mitch gaylord and see that this kit used to be called 'perfect 10' (because of ten moves that he does with the ball in the workouts). it looks like they cut the price in half and re-named it '3 day melt'....hmmmm. and, before that, the same program was called 'gold medal fitness' (which is what the weighted balls used in perfect 10 and 3 day melt have written on them)... LOLOL here is some talk about '3 day melt' on VF: http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=112749 & page=2 & pp=10 perfect 10: http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=95071 mitch and gold medal fitness: http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=76952
Guest guest
heather maybe something like firm or tracie long training stuff would be okay for you. you can use lighter weights and get a functional strength to your workouts. it only makes you stronger with your daily activities. my daughter is 8 and she is autistic and no matter how many times i can pick her up(almost 70lbs and 4' tall) she is very strong during a meltdown where i would have to restrain her. by mixing up my strength workouts i can get that functional fitness to deal with the things i have to deal with at work and home but also keeps my muscles guessing so i can keep getting results. right now i am doing splits. this week was a little tough b/c it was back to work week after winter break but this week i am going to push harder to do the set amy bento or cathe stuff. but some days i don't want heavy and i find denise austin, karen voight, kathy smith, firm etc are a good way to get a strength workout in without all that heavy stuff. just nice toning with a little strengthing for the joints. i don't have the genetics to build upper body mass those. i wish i could increase my upper body size and no matter how heavy i lift it doesn't change so if that is not your genetic code i think you will be alright if you lift heavy but its totally your choice how your resistance training goes. you might even find bodyweight and tubing gets you what you like, and that is fine but i think cardio resistance and flexibity in balance are key to fitness routine but baby steps up to it. it was 3 years before i started lifting anything past 8lbs and i have been building up for 3 years now. kassia ldy_solana's domain Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don’t want to impress people they don’t like.-Will Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
