Guest guest
A doctor can test for fungal infections. Otherwise try putting something like Canesten Cream on it and see if she calms down. A fungus can get into any sort of break in the skin Sally Sharon wrote: > > -Katy does this from time to time.I think it is when her tummy is > sore.In the summer she had a huge bald patch on her crown, her head > was itchy but i couldn't see anything in it,she had to wear a > bandana all the time. She was also cutting her hair. It's growing back > a bit now ,but we have to keep a close eye. > > If you find anyways of stopping this ,please tell. > > Thanks Sharon. > > -- In Autism-Biomedical-Europe > <mailto:Autism-Biomedical-Europe%40yahoogroups.com>, " Jane Hogan " > wrote: > > > > Not sure, the little girl is ten years old and non verbal. Guest guest
I've worked with two children that did this - both used this as a form of self injury due to frustration/lack of communication. It was horrible to witness - unfortunately one of them loved my hair as well, and it'd take 3 people to get her off of me. Sorry no suggestions, other than communication and frustration problems sometimes occur without there being a biomedical link, and behavioural techniques need to be put in place. > A doctor can test for fungal infections. Guest guest
I don’t post very often but I do think this is a great list. My daughter pulls her own hair a lot and I think it is a sensory thing in the main. It does not hurt her as it would another person. She has said she prefers deep pressure rather than light touches and has found it difficult until recently to understand that other people don’t feel this way! She has always hated having her hair brushed but is more than happy for you to nit – comb her hair. It is also stress related and when her dad and I separated she pulled out so much she had a bald patch. If anyone has an answer I would love to know.
