Guest guest
i think the "Twigs", that they called those little pieces, were only 2-3lbs each. if you have a weight bar, body bar, even a barbell with light plates use that. i did that for awhile myself otherwise i used dumbbells only. i liked the one with emily welsh but i traded them all off anyway. i much prefer classic firms they were just starting to go to equipment crazy starting at this point. kassia ldy_solana's domainScouting for All Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don¢t want to impress people they don¢t like.-Will

Guest guest
Hi , You're welcome, lol. I think the " twigs " Kassia mentioned might be even less - 1-2 lbs? And I agree - I think with the sculpting stick they were just trying to sell more stuff or something. I couldn't believe the prices on the sculpting stick in some of the brochures that were in my dvds - it was like $30 or more? And the fanner lifter was like $40-50, I think! Ugh! Dumbbells would be much better for a lot of the exercises, esp the ones they use the " twigs " for. I have one, but only because the lady I got my big batch of FIRMs from threw that and the fanny lifter in for cheap. The fanny lifter parts are 8 " and 6 " and then 14 " when put together. Maybe you can find extra risers for your step? I found a pair at goodwill one time, lol. Sara > > I got 3 new (to me) Firm videos from Sara (thanks Sara!) today and had a chance to watch one of them while I shredded paper in between work and VBS (maybe could have done a workout but only had 2 hours and kids to deal with so I didn't want to push my luck). Anyway, all 3 use the sculpting stick and I have to ask, WHY? What is the purpose of this thing? when it is standing end to end and they use it for balance I can almost see it (but I decided to just do some of the moves as I sat there and was fine doing all of them without a stick but if I need one I'll grab a broom) and I can see using it to add weight to your workout but why not just use dumbbells or another kind of bar that is more widely available? Is this just a gimmick? Also, at one point they unscrewed the end caps and used those as weights, I know the total bar weighs 9 lbs but how much are the little ones and again I ask, what is the point when there already are tools that work well? Am I being unnecessarily (and perhaps ignorantly) harsh? I can't remember the name of the video I was watching but it looked pretty challenging and I'm excited about trying it soon (using dumbbells instead of the sculpting stick I don't own and don't intend to buy). > > Also, how high are the different parts of the fanny lifter and how high are they together? Guest guest
the classic firms are the ones the were pre BSS(pre fanny lifter, pre scupting stick etc) there were 6 volumes, the firm parts(tough tape,5 day abs, tough aerobic mix) there was also the tortoise and the hare, i even count firm strength, firm cardio mix etc. although i am sure many of titles go by different names. http://www.videofitness.com/instructors/firm.php ldy_solana's domainScouting for All Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don¢t want to impress people they don¢t like.-Will Subject: Re: Firm Sculpting Stick & Fanny Lifter? To: exercisevideos Date: Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 11:00 PM That's the one I was watching (with ). Guest guest
Hi , IMHO the Stick was a gimmick - as you pointed out - you could use a broom or dowel for balance and dumbells for weights. The stick was too light to be really effective for weight work unless you were a beginner or working a small muscle group. I'd like to try and approximate it with a stool or > chair or something. i also substitute step stools for a high step and/or a fanny lifter. that works fine. you do not need all of the FIRM's equipment in order to do their workouts. all of their exta equipment is just silly, imo. :*carolyn.
