FW: sleep and inflammation

Hi everyone,

Tom has had sleep problems for a while and we recently

discovered that he sleeps much better if he is cold. He now sleeps in a nappy

and a vest with the window open. His sleep is still not perfect as he takes

about 1 ½ hours to fall asleep. He falls asleep at about 9.30 pm and then wakes between 7

and 8 so he’s getting 10 or 11 hours which I suppose is pretty perfect.

He no longer wakes during the night.

Since discovering that he sleeps better when he is cold,

we took him to a swimming pool a couple of times where the heating wasn’t

up to much – the water was pretty cold. Following both visits Tom was

dramatically better – happier and playing with toys as opposed to

stimming. We thought this might be an inflammation issue and I looked at all

the varieties of Brufen in the chemist’s. They were all really really

full of rubbish ingredients but we decided to buy the Calprofen – also

full of junk – and to use it if he complains of pain. That was 2 days ago

and we’ve given him at least one sachet a day ever since (this is the 3rd

day). Each time because he said his tummy or his head hurt. Each time we

noticed a dramatic difference – his pupils reduce immediately (20 mins

after giving) and he becomes calm and stops hassling us and stops head banging

(hassling means continually asking for things he knows he can’t have,

whining loudly and head banging).

My question is: is it worth giving him all that junk

for the difference we are seeing? Is there such a thing as Brufen without junk?

I have heard Brufen puts a lot of strain on the liver and kidneys. Should we be

worried about that? He is getting scoped at Chelsea and Westminster hosp on

March 6th. Perhaps it is ok to give the Calprofen til then –

what does anybody think?

Does anyone know of any natural anti-inflammatories?

We didn’t see any difference with BCQ.

            Thanks very much,

SARA
