Guest guest
hi everyone! i did jari's RTTC this morning. it went ok... this is a tough workout. more enjoyable than slim & lean though, that is for sure. i matched jari's weights with the exception of a few things: - i had to drop down from 10's to 8's on chest press, but will work on keeping it at 10's the rest of this week. - again with the wimpy shoulders... i had to drop from 5's to 3's on the lat and anterior raises. also the overhead press was tough...i started with 8's, dropped to 5's, then down to 3's... LOL - i did the spiders and pushups on my knees... will work on doing them on my toes this week. i know that i did them on my toes during last years rotation!! - again i did not enjoy the pulsing of the lower body... i changed most of those reps to static holds. - squatting off of a step while doing shoulder raises is hard! i had to lose the step after a while. - the stepups with overhead presses werent so bad, but id rather work on increasing the weight i use for presses instead of trying to do stepups at the same time. so i will probably not use the step for these presses on wed and friday. i wish that i had more time today for walking and stretching. chinook was not impressed with me today as he didnt get exercised at all the issue was that i had to take both boys to the dr -- one for a followup on an asthma attack that he had on labour day weekend (he is doing well now on a new puffer) and the other for what i thought was a bad eczema rash. turns out he has chickenpox. well technically he has shingles, because he was given the chickenpox vaccine years ago. i am angry at myself for not realizing sooner... the poor little dude has scratched the rash and now has to take antibiotics and the rash is red, raw, oozing and really icky! anyway, i was busy running the kids around all afternoon and getting groceries, etc. didnt have time to even sit down until 10pm ::sigh:: oh well, back at it tomorrow!! probably wont be able to walk the dog because i cant leave ds alone and he cant go to school with the chickenpox. so i hope to hit the elliptical, then do abs and yoga. :*carolyn. Guest guest
but id rather work on increasing the weight i use for presses instead of trying to do stepups at the same time Carolyn, I agree. I find that I just can't lift any more then about 3 lb. with those overhead press and the step ups. Don't feel wimpy on the shoulder work, I'm the same way with the shoulders AND the biceps. Sorry about your sick kids. That's weird that your son had a shot for chickenpox (as mine has also) and still got something like that. I'm sure that asthma attack was scary. My DH has asthma and he always got a puffer. He's had just a couple attacks in all the years he's had it. Its very scary. It makes me feel like I can't breath either. I hope they both get to doing better. I also wanted to comment on your commitment to Jari's workouts. You've really been hanging in there. Good for you. Psssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
Great job on this! I haven't tried this one, but imagine it is similar to 1000 w/ the compound moves. Those moves are hard! I'm glad you liked this better than S & L. > > hi everyone! i did jari's RTTC this morning. it went ok... > this is a tough workout. more enjoyable than slim & lean > though, that is for sure. > > i matched jari's weights with the exception of a few things: > - i had to drop down from 10's to 8's on chest press, but will > work on keeping it at 10's the rest of this week. > - again with the wimpy shoulders... i had to drop from 5's to 3's > on the lat and anterior raises. also the overhead press was > tough...i started with 8's, dropped to 5's, then down to 3's... Guest guest
How old is your son w/ chickenpox/shingles? I heard on the news a couple years ago that there is concern w/ the chickenpox vaccine in the lasting power, that a booster may have to be given because it may not last thru teens to early adulthood and that they could still get chicken pox even though they were vaccinated years ago. Hope he gets better soon! > > hi everyone! i did jari's RTTC this morning. it went ok... > this is a tough workout. more enjoyable than slim & lean > though, that is for sure. > > i matched jari's weights with the exception of a few things: > - i had to drop down from 10's to 8's on chest press, but will > work on keeping it at 10's the rest of this week. > - again with the wimpy shoulders... i had to drop from 5's to 3's > on the lat and anterior raises. also the overhead press was > tough...i started with 8's, dropped to 5's, then down to 3's... Guest guest
Congratulations on the scale AND the great workout. I really like that one. Wow. I just finished Ripped to the Core. I forget how hard this one is. I burned 602 calories with my average being 137. A huge burn for weight-lifting. I was surprised. Anyway, I like this workout enough, and feel worked everywhere well except for abs (of course, it's Jari), and biceps weren't too hard either. I don't like the compound exercise that she has with biceps, so that's why I'm sure. I can't focus on them enough. I did a few minutes extra of abs and didn't rest when she was either, so I got a good workout there too. It's my husband's b-day today. He's still doing fantastic with working out. I'm sooo proud of him. He's lost either 8 - 13 pounds since starting already. But made some big changes. He's 207 pounds (not sure if he was 215 or 220 when starting). He's been really watching what he eats though - too much. I hope he doesn't get burned out and make it too hard on himself. Anyway, the first time I don't have to make a cake for his b-day! LOL.. he said he wouldn't eat it.. Oh, I got on the scale this morning and was down to 143 - YAY! That's a very low number for me!! Tomorrow is a kettlebell workout, I'm almost scared because I know how hard I'm going to have to work Happy Wednesday everyone!Darcy
Guest guest
Holy cow! 602+ calories for strength training? You're at 143 and DH has lost around 10 lbs? THAT'S FREAKIN' FANTASTIC NEWS, DARCY! I'm envious on all counts I haven't been 143 since my early 20's! I hope DH sticks with it. Is he having fun while working out? Some people see it as a chore, and that makes me sad. I really believe there is a workout or sport for everyone! For me it's Turbo Kick, for Jen it's volleyball, for Gymmie it's Tae Bo... I always tell people that if they dislike exercising to keep trying new things.
Guest guest
Hi Darcy, good job on the workouts and the scale - I'm happy that your DH is enjoying his exercise program and is doing well w/ eating right, too. I wish my DH would exercise and eat right (He eats healthy, but portion size is an issue) but he has never stuck w/ any changes in those directions for more than a couple of months. *SIGH* Take care, Donna Subject: Ripped to the CoreTo: "exercisevideos" <exercisevideos >, "cathefans" <cathefans >, workout.notes@...Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 7:59 AM Wow. Guest guest
Thanks Donna.Yeah, we'll see just how serious my husband is. When he's staying on the road and working more hours, it's only going to get harder and harder..Darcy Hi Darcy, good job on the workouts and the scale - I'm happy that your DH is enjoying his exercise program and is doing well w/ eating right, too.
