Guest guest
Yes, okay that clarifies things and makes more sense. I think I probably need the vax wet and dry cleaner as I've scoured the carpet, tried to clear the muck but the carpet is still "stiff" where the offending particles were deposited. ;-) I've packaged the steamer up and I'll take it back, the smell isn't the problem and I don't think I would use it for anything much else (unless it would steam my pores but it says not to use it on skin, hehe.) Thanks very much for enlightening me on domesticity. Darla x We have a different steamer, but I guess they all are fairly similar. The heat of the steam is what kills the germs, so you need to have most of the muck out of the carpet so you only need to use minimal steam to kill the germs. If the carpet is full of gunk, you would have to apply so much steam that it would get soaking as you guessed. The steamers are good for stains and germs in carpets, rather than clearing muck and gunk. We also have a vax upright carpet shampooer. We avoided buying one for ages as many years ago we borrowed my brothers original old vax wet and dry cleaner - and it was very hard going indeed. We are however really pleased with the upright shampooer, and it is easy to use - cannot remember how much it cost though, but wasn't cheap. On hard surfaces the steamer is good at cleaning muck and gunk - really rotten stuff on our oven door has eventually come off after several attacks with the steam nozzle.-Sue-- In Autism-Biomedical-Europe , rexel45@... wrote:>> Okay, sorry for this ridiculous post but I went and bought this item (at > least I think it is the same one, it was reduced to £40) and now I am sitting > here with it, hoping to steam up some of the remnants of the norovirus from our > pale carpets....and I just don't get it! > > Before I try to use it I want to make sure I understand this - it doesn't > actually suck the water back up into the machine, does it?
