Guest guest
Paediatrician said today that x ray shows no impaction, but excess air in stomach and large intestine. With palpitation she felt some faecal queue, but not much. What do I do now? He has formed stools daily, no obvious pain, but distended stomach every evening, flat in morning, unless had dietary infraction. Paed recommends scan, laxatives, then 2 antibiotics at same time. I think augmentin and something else. Am not keen on the antibiotics, especially as they will be full of colouring etc. Happy to hear suggestions Wishing everyone all the best for the new year

Guest guest
Hi , I'm not sure I can give the best advice without knowing more about your son. I think your post continued from a thread that I didn't see. But we found paediatricians and gastrointestinal specialists very wrong about Eddie. I would be cautious about any bowel opinion from someone not expert in autism. What were the antibiotics for? We find oxypowder bowel clear outs very easy and try to do them at intervals. It just turned out that he did have a bit of an impaction when we didn't think he had. It is surprising that tummies can be flat with an impaction or loading. Eddie also bloats toward the end of the day and is flatter in the morning - but the better his bowel is the less this happens. Have you done the comprehensive stool test and the organic acid test to look for infections and imbalances? Best wishes, Sandy > > > Re:bowel problems > > > Paediatrician said today that x ray shows no impaction, but excess air in stomach and large intestine. Guest guest
Hi , I didn’t feel I had enough knowledge to reply to your post but feel more confident now that Sandy’s written. Tom’s x-ray also showed that he did not have an impaction although there was “too much poo” in his bowel, or loaded as it is called. He still responded to an oxypowder clearout before the anti candida and anti bacterial treatments. Tom has terrible bloating too – hw abdomen is bloated one minute and flat the next, so his bowel problems are not over. Anti-biotics are best avoided but not necessarily altogether I suppose, Flagyl helped Tom and tests showed that it cleared up whatever bacteria it was we were trying to kill off (I can look it up if you like). The tests Sandy mentions are what we used and we went through nutritionist Muscroft. Do you have a DAN! practitioner?
