Guest guest
Hi All, With all of the talk about adjustable dumbbells and Chalene, I just wanted to chime in with my two cents. I have powerblocks, (http://www.powerblock.com/blocks.html) and I couldn't be happier with them. I have the classic 45 set that adjusts from 5-45 lbs in 5 lb increments. I also have platemates (http://www.theplatemate.com/products.htm) that I use often, as that way I can adjust in 2.5 lb increments. Each platemate weighs 1.25 lbs. I don't have a stand for them I think the stand is $100-150), and that's never been an issue for me. I'm sure my DH could make a stand for me if I need one somaday. Anyway, not sure how they compare cost-wise to others. I bought mine several years ago, and I know I was able to get them at less than retail at a large fitness store. Since becoming a true vidiot this past summer though, I have also purchased several sets of regular dumbbells that I use for most videos. The biggest issue of changing weights was for FIRM workouts - since they move so quickly, but now that I have the other sets, I usually just grab them for all videos. I'm assuming that Chalene allows enough time for weight changes. The powerblocks don't take long at all - you just move the pin down the the color you want for weight. I plan to go back to my powerblock in January though, when I'm doing my own strength training. Sara
Guest guest
Hi Sara, I've previewed some of CE and there is plenty of time to change weights. I wish I had the money and space to get a nice weight set like yours of Select techs but they are too much money. Also, I live in a small townhouse.....maybe I can take a pic and show you guys. Thanks for telling us what they look like though,Jealous, JenSubject: Adjustable dumbbellsTo: exercisevideos Date: Sunday, December 21, 2008, 11:57 AM Hi All, With all of the talk about adjustable dumbbells and Chalene, I just wanted to chime in with my two cents.
