To make kombucha, you need a kombucha baby or scoby (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). It looks like a pretty gross pancake. You place the scoby in some tea and sugar, leave it in a warm place, and some time later (usually abuot a week) you have kombucha. It tastes like a complicated kind of cider and I find it delicious. Easy to get most kids to drink it. Kefir can be make from milk or some people make it from coconut water. To make kefir you need kefir grains or a powder. If you use grains in milk they grow and you end up with lots. Kefir, to me, doesn't taste great. I need to hide it in something, but I make the effort because I think it can be so healthful and healing. I'm putting together a file on these two things because I think they can improve gut health enormously and I'd like to share what I know with other parents. The file should be in the files section in the next few days. I hope that helps. Anita >
