Was just writing a reply to this this morning when my computer crashed, oh oh!! I was going to say that this throat clearing is often a sign of reflux or inflammation in many kids with ASD. Does your child have any other serious gastro probs as well? Its known that kids with bowel probs have not only inflammtion in the bowel but also further up the gastrointestinal tract and lower down too so really all the way from the oesophagus to the rectum problems can occur. If you suspect gastro probs I would mention this at the time of consult too.
