Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Great to hear from you and that your life is so full, busy and rewarding. Also what good news about Seth's job, and wanting to be independent. I believe Seth was about 10 years old when we first met! Wow, how time flies! Yes, at 18, I too was ready to be 'independent', and with the start of college and still working part-time, I left home. lol, my Mom tried to stand in my way - but Dad was almost pushing me to 'get out there'. Apartments were alot more affordable then, even with 3 or 4 girls sharing a place. Are there any young men Seth's age who would like a roomate to share an apartment or a house? Or I am wondering if someone near his work might have a room to rent in their house - of course he'd pay rent, but hopefully would be close enough to walk home, or get a ride from someone he works with. As for 'services' that may help - all I can think of might be the junior college bulletin boards, or maybe the Student Center could connect him with others wanting to share an apartment or house. Maybe Ed in NH will have a better idea on this. Jump in Ed! ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Hi Heidi, According to my experience in university, I contact office of housing and office that provides service to students with specital needs, such as disability. I found the two offices were very helpful in helping me find the right place. Often, the two offices coordinate to take care of the special needs of special students. It is better to contact both offices and clearly articualte what kind of help I really need. Please take care Caroline in LA > > Hi Heidi, > > Great to hear from you and that your life is so full, busy and > rewarding. Also what good news about Seth's job, and wanting to be > independent. Guest guest
Hello Gretchen and Heidi, Gretchen, you push me into a late night comment here. Heidi and I have known of each other for many years and are actually only 1/2 hour apart in the Lakes Region. We have yet to meet face to face. The apartment situation in this high tourist/low job pay area of NH is not at all good. People fight pretty hard up here to hinder " sprall " and low income housing preferring to see the land get locked up in nature reserve instead of development. One suggestion might cure two birds with one stone. There are Bed & Breakfast places around and they might trade room for partime help with the B & B. Some are seasonal and might like to have someone to house sit in the off season. Many people here support themselves with more than one small job in a seasonal fashion. My daughter works at in home support for a service, perhaps advertising could turn a live in aid for room. We have a Tri-County services facility in Tamworth that may be a resource for that sort of thing. A lady here gathered up several millions of dollars and had this very nice new facility built about ten years ago. The house sitting idea is probably worth looking into as we have scads of seasonal residences in the area. We also have a large elderly population who have a hard time keeping up their homes and might look to a live in person. Heidi - I was holding your post in order to reply more extensively. But, I guess this will due for now. If I run into anything, I'll contact you. Maybe a notice put up at the post office bulletin board would help. Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I am sure they have low income housing in NH. Seth may be able to get an apartment for $50.00 a month.
