Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I had to cancel my chiropractic appointment for today - too much to do w/ work! I re-scheduled for the Thursday after Labor Day. Hope it can actually happen then. I'm totally stressed out and swamped at work - ironically, that is probably when I need the chiro the most! LOL! I do think there is a mental/stress element to my back issues - I am sure I tighten up when I'm under the gun w/ stress. Anyway........today I did Tracey Mallett's Super Body Bootcamp. I've done this one before - it is a bootcamp/kickboxing circuit style workout. She alternates bootcamp/kickboxing cardio exercises with some light weight training (many times the weight training segments focus on balance and core which complements the workout nicely). THere are some challenging exercises in this one - the dreaded burpees and plank runs for one! I sure wish there was a timer on those segments b/c I can psyche myself up to do something if I know it won't last much longer. Overall, I worked up a nice sweat with this one. I also did the bonus ab segment at the end which is a blend of Pilates and traditional ab work. I stretched out a bit while watching some of the bonus extras on the DVD. I need to get back into more 'formal' stretching with a DVD, I find I stick with it longer. I do have some good DOMS from this week's workouts. I think I could have done better with my workout today if I wasn't so darn sore in my lower body, but due to the soreness I found I couldn't squat as deeply, etc. Last night I watched Tony Horton on QVC presenting P90X. I need to check the price to see if it is better than Beachbody. I stilll would like to get that kit at some point, I'm not 100% sure I'd do one of the rotations (as written) again, but they are good solid workouts and I'm sure I can come up with a way to use them. Halfsies sound like a good option for me (doing half of some of the workouts - as I recall many are chaptered well enough and structured well enough to allow for this) Tony was also tlking about the benefits of yoga - he calls it the fountain of youth - got me thinking again about how I need to incorporate it more often. My biggest problem is time. But I think I need to do it - even in 10 minute increments. Oh well! Hope everyone has great day!Donna
