Guest guest
Thank you Vicky, great to know that there is someone in Norwich with advice! We will have a stop-over in Germany (I am German) where Noa will have a check-up from Dr. Feraji, it is his first "biomedical appointment" since there is nothing over here in Thailand so we focused on ABA / VB so far. However, I hear that we should probably also get a diagnosis in England so we can get a statement for school so we might need to find some doctor and get an appointment soon. The school is my biggest worry at the moment - Noa's former kindergarten teacher moved already back to England (also to Nowich) and she helps, but I have only 1 response from the schools I contacted - they say that we need to meet. We can't afford a private school so we need to find a good public school with good SEN support. Noa will turn 6 in July and according to his Kindergarten teacher and current "shadow" over here there is no question about him going to a mainstreamed school where he will benefit most, we don't know yet whether he will need 1:1 support at school or not; his current help says probably not, teacher is sure he doesn't need it as long as there is good SEN staff. Noa is not showing any extreme behaviors and developed socially very well, his spontaneous speech needs to develop a bit more, he has sometimes control issues, other than that he seems to do well, BUT: After a big move to England, new people, a big school (compared to a 11 kids kindergarten over here) etc. I don't know how he will be. And then I read about all the work which needs to get done to get a statement and a placement, without really understanding how it works - it is overwhelming. Noa should go to school as soon as possible again until he starts year 1 in September. Do you know any good schools??? We will definitely continue to teach him also at home after school, so thank you for offering advice for home programs, I will definitely look into that once we are there and would be thankful if I can contact you again by then. Sorry about this long message, and thanks so much for helping!
