Guest guest
hiya! well, i lost 3 days this week due to having a cold.... im beginning to feel better now, and didnt want that break to stretch out any longer, so im easing back into my workouts today with yoga. i used hemalaya behl's 'yoga for urban living' dvd. this dvd contains 3 workouts... 30 min 'morning quickie', 25 min 'evening bath' and 60 min 'daily connection'. there is also some sort of tutorial for breathing and another for some of the postures done in the workouts. i did 'morning quickie', followed by 'evening bath'. in MQ, hemalaya starts out with (and ends with) a bit of chanting and also does that weird fast belly breathing, which i admit i skipped over. then she does sun salutations for the rest of the session, changing one of the poses in the middle of the sal. for example, she would do a lunge in a couple of sals, then change that to side angle in the next couple of sals. so there was some variety, and not just the same sun salutation over and over. EB is more restorative, with the poses done on the floor. i liked the music in these workouts and i thought that hemalaya was ok, and that the practice was ok. i wasnt blown away by it... it was just ok. she instructs via voiceover, and that is done well, but her voice doesnt usually match what she is doing on the screen - one is often lagging behind the other. i also thought there was a bit of confusion when she cued right/left at times, but that could have just been me. also, in EB, she does that pose with her feet over her head and a shoulder stand with her legs/feet straight up in the air, which i dont like to do because they are hard on my neck. so, i had to repeat one of the earlier stretches while she did those. i have other yoga workouts that i enjoy more and am glad that this is a rental... however, i do think that i will do the longer 'daily connection' practice... perhaps tomorrow evening. :*carolyn. Guest guest
Hi Carolyn! Sorry to hear you were sick! For the last two or three days I've felt like I was coming down with something but I seem to keep knocking it back with a dose of Airborne. I hope I can continue to do so. G Good job on the Yoga! I borrowed Rainbeau Mars Dawn practice from the library again and hope to fit it in this week! Donna p.s. the fast belly breathing does take some getting used to - I often can't sustain it for as long as the instructor and often have to take a few regular breaths and then jummp in again. This type of breathing is used in Kundalini alot and it can make you dizzy at first! --- Festival City Concrete/ & Carolyn Visser wrote: > hiya! > well, i lost 3 days this week due to having a > cold.... im > beginning to feel better now, and didnt want that > break to > stretch out any longer, so im easing back into my > workouts today > with yoga. > > i used hemalaya behl's 'yoga for urban living' dvd. > this dvd > contains 3 workouts... 30 min 'morning quickie', 25 > min 'evening > bath' and 60 min 'daily connection'. there is also > some sort of > tutorial for breathing and another for some of the > postures done > in the workouts. > > i did 'morning quickie', followed by 'evening bath'. > in MQ, > hemalaya starts out with (and ends with) a bit of > chanting and > also does that weird fast belly breathing, which i > admit i > skipped over. then she does sun salutations for > the rest of the > session, changing one of the poses in the middle of > the sal. > for example, she would do a lunge in a couple of > sals, then > change that to side angle in the next couple of > sals. so there > was some variety, and not just the same sun > salutation over and > over.
