Guest guest
Check out Alwyn Cosgrove's " Goal Snowball " as a method of getting back on track one step at a time. http://alwyncosgrove.blogspot.com/2007/11/goal-snowball.html It's totally normal to have ups and downs. What you want to avoid is alls and nothingses. (I know, I'm making up words and I need to go to bed. ;-) Being perfect for 12 weeks is much less effective than sort of half-assing it all the time. If you can't get it totally together, get one thing together. If you'd rather shoot yourself than wake up at 5am, figure out how to exercise in the evening. If the thought of eating totally clean is just laughable right now, at least begin having some protein and vegetables along with your junk, as in BFL for Cheaters and Binge Eaters - http://www.skwigg.com/id76.html Baby steps. > HELP!!! Guest guest
I had been there before and 2 things pull me out of it. 1. My ten years old daughter telling me Mommy if you can not do BFL for you do it for me,it just broke my heart and I started 2 this message in Body for Life .Someone wrote it sometimes last week it made sense. How do I find the courage to start? I bought the BFL book in 2000. For almost 8 years it has sat here on my shelf. For almost 8 years I have watched you all change your bodies and change your lives while my life has progressively deteriorated. I have let anger and depression take over. My life has been a series of almosts..should haves... I would greatly appreciate your advice..Merry XMAS! you get it the same place we all did–by starting. Strangely enough, those who wait and search for the inspiration, or the motivation, or the courage to do a BFL challenge continue to wait. And they never start–because they have it all backward. The courage, and the motivation, and the inspiration–they all COME once you START, not before. It is a classic case where you must act your way into a better way of thinking, rather than trying to think yourself into better actions! Don’t start tomorrow–come up with a plan first. But, as soon as you do that, start, and don’t wait for the courage. Just start. In a few weeks of doing this, the courage to keep doing it will come to you. No one receives the gift until they need it, and they don’t need it until they begin. Hope this help you wrote: HELP!!! Guest guest
I (unintentionally) followed the snowball method of getting back on track. 2 years ago, I was in the best shape of my life. After a couple of injuries, I still kept eating like an athlete, but slacked on the working out COMPLETELY and gained 10-15 lbs. For the last YEAR I've been trying to lose the weight, with no progress. I'd go up a pound, down a pound, etc., get unmotivated, gain it back. In October, I finally started setting mini goals - focus on exercise, not weight, because the weight will follow; exercise just three times a week for just 30 minutes in the morning; cut the caffeine back to one a day; eat " better " ; go to bed on time; stress less about work. After I got the easy workout routine down, I started upping the intensity, time, and frequency, and remembered that I LIKE working out and it's not a chore. Food was still a struggle, but I didn't beat myself up for that, because I was exercising well. Then, I discovered the importance of heavy lifting, and decided to focus the intensity of my exercise through BFL, and figured I might as well follow the food plan correctly as well. Now, I'm progressing by leaps and bounds, in part because I'd already been exercising for three months. None of the mini-goals were a waste of time and it's all part of the slow progress of making this into a lifestyle, not a diet. Also, 's cheaters and quitters plan is great, if it won't derail you. Do you want to win the competition? Then go 110%. But if you're just a normal woman like the rest of us, make some adjustments. About once a week on a non-free day, I'll have a Skinny Cow and protein powder and call it my sixth meal. Has it derailed me or caused a massive gain? Not at all. Does it make me feel like I can live this way forever? Absolutely! Now, I just had my Egg Beaters and whole wheat English muffin, and I'm off to get a free day donut. : ) Best of luck to you - Megily > > > HELP!!! Guest guest
That was a great BFL quote! Thanks for sharing it. > > > I had been there before and 2 things pull me out of it. > > 1. Guest guest
I did the same thing except my non-motivation lasted about 5 yrs. I weigh more now than I did at the beginning of that first challenge. Please don't let that happen to you. What motivated me this time was looking at before and after pics of people who were successful and wanting to be there. And being sick and tired of literally being sick and tired. All you have to do is get off that couch (that's where I spent all my time) and take one day at a time. Good luck to you! > > HELP!!!
