On Tuesday, I did 's new 5 miler – 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk. I

think this one just came out this month (deepdiscount has it for ~$9

with free shipping). I was looking forward to trying this one, to see

what was new.

Oh, on a side note we got a TON of snow the last few days – hooray!

I went out with the dogs Tues afternoon and show shoed all over the

yard so they had trails to run in. What fun! Bear followed me

everywhere as I was breaking the trails, and sometimes Quincy did

too. But Quincy tends to step on my snow shoes, so that doesn't help

very much. Baby watched me from the big snow hill that DH always

plows for them. It's about 5 feet high right now, and the dogs love

to sit on it and watch the trail for snowmobiles. On the south side

of the yard the snow was past my knees! That was certainly a

workout. I played around out there for probably an hour or so – a

bonus workout for the day! I also did some shoveling, but not as

much as usual. We had a good foot of snow on the sidewalk and more

in other places, and it was heavy! I shoveled enough to make it

easier for me to walk from the house to the driveway and to the

garage, but left the rest for DH to plow when he got home, lol.

Okay, back to ... As usual, you have the choice of doing

anywhere from 1-5 miles in the menu, and there is also a short intro

from about the workout. I think there is an interview from

someone who lost over 100 lbs, too – but I didn't watch it. I decided

to do the whole workout which is about 65 minutes with cool down and

stretching.

This one is definitely faster paced throughout, as it's 5 - 12 minute

miles. Miles 1 and 5 are alone, and the other three miles

have backgrounders. The last two minutes of each mile are boosted

walking (jogging) and she always encourages you to do what feels

right. I did all of the boosted walking, and was also wearing my

weighted gloves - and kept my arms going the whole time, so it felt

like a pretty good workout. The music in miles 1 and 2 was fun and

upbeat and sounded new. Mile 3's music sounded more familiar, and I

don't remember the music in the last two miles, lol. The time moved

pretty quickly in this one, and I wasn't watching the clock the whole

time. The miles transition like they are intended to be done

together, so you don't have to warm up and cool down with each one,

which is nice.

On the downside, I don't know what I was expecting from this workout,

but there wasn't really anything new. She does add in more step outs

than usual, but other than that it felt a lot like her other newer

workouts from the Walk At Home series. I was disappointed that she

didn't use any weights for any of miles. I like the variety in arm

movements she offers when she uses weights. I've done her Advanced 5

Mile Walk as well, and I think I like that one a little better. I

enjoy the variety that one has, since it uses different gadgets for

each mile, as well as offering a boosted mile. I also think I prefer

her Slim Series walks to this one. I want to try 5 Day Slim down for

comparison, too. So, although I got a decent 60 minute workout from

it, I was a little disappointed with this one.

I was going to do Body Pump today, but I'm still kind of sore from

All Pump. I think I'll hit the treadmill instead, and do Body Pump

tomorrow so I can give it 100%! And then some nice low impact cardio

on Friday will be just what I need to help with the DOMs I'm

expecting. ;)
