Guest guest
I've been married to a terrific woman for 20 very happy years. The fact I have CMT has never been a issue. I was concerned about having children with CMT, we had genetic counseling and were given a 50% chance that are children would have CMT. Both our children have CMT, but by knowing this from the beginning made life much easier. They had medical support, IEP for school to ensure they were not penalized for physical limitations, and now as teenagers they are living normal lives ...(Driving us crazy!!). I have been very fortunate to have a life partner who is supportive, loving and understanding about living with CMT. I think the main thing is being honest and finding someone who accepts you for the who you are not want you have. I'm sure they are many others who can testify to same. Guest guest
Yes, Reema, it is possible. I am trully blessed with a beautiful wife that I am greatful for everyday. But I will say that during my 20's things looked bleak. This too shall pass. Don't be in too much of a hurry, but do pay attention to the people who are put into your life. Guest guest
Reema, I will be married for 20 years this December to a wonderful guy.. I explained it all to him before we married and he was still willing to make the commitment. I can no longer do some things like mop, clean the tub/shower or even push a vacuum cleaner very much, and he does it all with no complaints. My mom is almost completely dependent on a wheelchair and my dad has taken to doing so much for her that she sometimes feels like he treats her like a child.. nevertheless, she does know what a great man she has.. they have been married 45 years. My grandmother was much like my mom and granddaddy was just like my dad and my husband.. they were married 51 years when she died. Great people that make wonderful spouses are out there and if I was going to wish one thing for anyone with CMT it would be that they find a mate that is as great as these are. Guest guest
Reema: I am 45 and have been married for 22 years. Found out I had CMT about 9 years ago. My husband is very supportive. He also has Rheumatoid Arthritis and has problems. With God's help we have learned to take each day one day at time. Mine so far is a mild case of CMT 1 but different problems develop all the time (more aches and pains). We have a very happy home! Three daughters, one son and a brand new grandson! Don't give up hope!!! Crock
Guest guest
, If I may ask, how do you get by financially?? I didn't have good insurance, we've been together 14 years and aren't paper married, but it's so hard to get by. How do most people do it? This is for anyone out there. I'm still waiting on the courts, but can only go so far. Thank you. (in the Keys)
